Discover the scenic Swiss village of Saas Grund on this short, yet action-packed adventure.
Begin your journey learning new skills on the Trift Glacier. Learn or refresh crampons and ice-axe skills before moving over snowy mountain terrain whilst roped up, and finishing with some thrilling real crevasse rescue practice. After refining your skills, complete a via ferrata ascent of the Jegihorn, combining easy scrambling with wire ladders and outstanding wire bridge crossings.
Once you have become acclimatised and feel your mountaineering skills have been completely refreshed, we begin our ascent to the strikingly located Hohsaas mountain hut before then making our ascent of the Weissmies, 4,017m/13,179ft. Putting our Alpine skills into action, we set off before first light, cross a glacier and climb steadily to reach the summit where we enjoy the breathtaking, panoramic views.
This introductory weekend is appropriate for the mountaineering novice or those whose skills are a little out of practice and it’s also ideal preparation for taking on a more challenging trekking peak such as Mont Blanc in the Alps, Mera Peak in Nepal or Stok Kangri in Ladakh.
