Beautiful walk through Tuscany
Three friends and I did the On Foot Holidays walk through Tuscany the last week of May 2024. We had a wonderful time. The trip surpassed my already high expectations. The route was so beautiful and peaceful. We walked through vineyards, along county roads and through woodsy areas and ended up each day in quaint, historic towns. The route was so beautiful and peaceful. We walked through vineyards, along county roads and through woodsy areas and ended up each day in quaint, historic towns. We enjoyed all the places that we stayed- the rooms were clean and we always had a private bath. The staff at each place was friendly and helpful. The maps and information that On Foot provided us with were excellent. We had no problem navigating our walk. We were very lucky to have sunny, beautiful weather the entire week. Needless to say we loved the Italian food and wine.

On Foot Holidays was extremely responsive to all our needs and questions. Their informational walking packet and their app were exceptional. I have absolutely no complaints. Our trip went off without a hitch.

Stunning Trek in Tuscany
The whole experience was fantastic, even more spectacular than my friend and I imagined. Wei did the 5 night Tuscan trek, starting at Buonconvento through to Multipulciano. Right from the start we were utterly stunned by the scenery; the endless rolling hills, the iconic cypress trees, the vineyards and the 360 degree views. We used the recommended GPS as well but it wasn't really needed though a good backup.

On Foot Holidays were excellent, returning messages very quickly, giving us advice as to where to stay for a few extra days afterwards (Multipulciano, Siena and Pisa). My friend had an ankle injury before the holiday and we were unsure how much we would be able to do; On Foot Holidays gave us advice about the individual days and shorter alternatives. They could not have been more friendly and helpful.

Terrific Trek in Tuscany
Walking from town to town across Tuscany is amazing. The region is a spectacular experience for all the senses; awesome views, wonderful smells, different sounds, tasty tastes, and the walking provides all the touch you need! We walked from Montalcino toMontepulciano over three days and cannot wait to do more.

On Foot Travels does a great job planning and preparing, both responsive and accommodating. The trail plan they provided and supporting materials and app provided all that we needed. The b&b’s / hotels were delightful and in many cases offered great views of the countryside.

Exceptional, personal service with great attention to detail. As well as an opportunity to provide feedback, which the company was very keen to know so that they could actively take steps to improve the experience.

Tuscany walk, organised by On Foot Holidays.
The Tuscany walk we enjoyed so much this year was even more enjoyable because in ‘23 we had to cancel at the last minute due to a health scare in the family. On foot Holidays were most accommodating in reorganising the trip for ‘24 and we are SO glad we re-booked. On foot Holidays were most accommodating in reorganising the trip for ‘24 and we are SO glad we re-booked. The depth of detail into which OFH goes in preparing for the trip, down to a bus timetable for a village bus ( 5 minute ride in a tiny Italian village) is symptomatic of the top quality of service provided by the company in all its client contact. We had modified the itinerary originally suggested for a ten days in Tuscany and again this was no problem for OFH. The trip we nominated was essentially a five day hike book-ended by a two day stay in both Siena to start and Montepulciano at the end. Walking through the visually stunning scenery was an absolute pleasure although on a couple of occasions we were exhausted by the climbs to our overnight accomodation towns perched on top of significant hills but we had been warned of these inevitable finales, especially at Montalcino. The Tuscany clay, which was another hazard the comprehensive track notes warned about, came into play on two separate days of walking. Walking poles, GPS navigation and hard copy maps helped us through by warning us of when to expect these extra hard sections and, more importantly, how far they would extend. Thankfully the accomodation each night was very satisfactory and we rested well and were able to start each day with clean and dry clothing…. A blessing. The hotel in Pienza stood out for its homely comfort level and outstanding views from our bedroom window. My wife and I have nothing but praise for OFH and the Tuscany walking trip we completed with their wonderful support from beginning to end.

This has been covered in my earlier words re the trip but can be summed up as follows: exemplary level of service backed by informed and courteous staff at all points of our discussions about the walk. Rapid response to emails and attention to detail are features of their work. On Foot Holidays are a company worthy of accolades for all aspects of their tours.

On Foot Holidays was so wonderful- we already cannot wait to decide where to travel next for another walking tour! The trip details given to us and the communication were superb

Beautifully planned, flawlessly executed, fabulous walking trip
Our six-day walk through the incredibly beautiful Tuscan landscape, finishing each day in a beautiful hill town where we had delicious meals and wines was all we had hoped for and more. The walking routes were uncrowded, easy to follow with the On Foot guidance. We often felt like we were walking within a painting. A wonderful trip

Carefully planned out route, thoughtfully chosen hotels, arrangements that all went without a hitch - in the incredibly beautiful Tuscan landscape. We couldn't have asked for more! From the first communications with On Foot, we were impressed with the responsiveness, thoughtfulness, and thoroughness with which they treated our holiday plans. They really know what they are doing. I've already booked another holiday with them, and won't hesitate to recommend them to friends and family.

Beautiful countryside walking to magical hill top towns with great food and wine
We took a walking holiday with On Foot in Tuscany in September/October. We started with a couple of nights in Siena and then walked via Pieve a Salti, Montelcino, Bagno Vignole, and Pienza, finishing in Montepulciano. The walking was beautiful and we had a wonderful time at the towns we stayed in. There was great history in the towns and also great experience of their wine making.

The organisation was brilliant - every detail covered. Hotel choice was excellent. They provide great maps and GPS directions, town maps and public transport information when needed. They have great local guides who provide information that you need. They even have good restaurant suggestions. They are incredibly helpful in setting up the holiday and the people who work their know the walks, because they have done them. They are brilliant!!

The hard slog up hill at the end of the days walk was well worth it with lovely restaurants serving traditional Tuscan food and fine wines. We saw a wild boar in a forest which was a thrilling experience, we kept our distance until it moved on. The locals were so friendly, making us feel so welcome. We took the opportunity to do two wine tastings in different towns, learning about wine growing and harversting along the way. A wonderful experience I would highly recommend.

This was our 3rd self-guided walking holiday with On Foot Holidays. The whole experience is very positive, lots of guidance when booking on the best months to travel, where to stay etc. The office staff are all very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. It doesn't matter who you speak to they always pick up from the last conversation instantaneously. The pack that is sent out with the travel to start, the pack for each day with maps and written guidance are always accurate and comprehensive. There is gps routing that the office help load on your phone, but we have only used it for a very rare double check- the walking notes/maps are so good. The additonal "blue" booklet gives additional information on history/things to see at each location- which is always interesting. We also have access to a local contact, which is good to know, but everything is so well planned they are rarely needed. I have recommended On Foot holidays to many of my friends and I wouldn't use any other company for self-guided walking.
