We hiked from Lago Maggiore to Lago Orta over six days. While the weather was cloudy, the temperature was fine and we enjoyed it immensely.

This was our first trip with On Foot and we found them superb. Prompt and thorough and helpful in every email exchange leading up to the trip and beyond the call in assisting with transportation logistics and schedules. The walking instructions were easy to follow and clear and the background materials were wonderful. The app, too, was very good. All written materials were perfectly organized and comprehensive. The descriptions of the accommodations were spot on. Our local contact called to make sure we'd arrived safely at the start point and then let us know about an early checkin option at one of the hotels. We felt confident she'd help us out immediately if we needed it.

Our walking tour in the Lake Maggiore area of Italy, organized by On Foot Holidays surpassed our expectations. We thoroughly enjoyed our lakeside vacation with stunning views of lakes and mountains, charming villages and fabulous food. The walks offered a lot of variety and just the right amount of challenge. At day's end we landed in a number of most enjoyable hotels.

We booked with On Foot Holidays. They were always responsive during the pre-trip process and the trip unfolded with perfection -- from luggage transfers to hotel and restaurant bookings and to daily suggested walks. The app On Foot provided us was a great addition-- all of our info was right on our phone, GPS navigation was smooth, and I truly enjoyed all of the history and background notes.

We stayed for three days on lake Maggiore then walked to Lake Orta via Mottarone and stayed an extra night in Orta

a 4 day walking holiday between Lake Maggiore and Lake Orta in Italy. Our hotels were pre-booked and our luggage moved seamlessly between them and was waiting for us at each new stop. We had a local contact who was happy to help with any issues and was able to inform us with any issues on the route.

From my first contact with On Foot they were helpful, polite and encouraging. They were happy to answer any questions and happy to go the extra mile if any problems came up either on our part or with the walking/hotels

Very pleasant easy point to point walking from Lake Maggiore to Lake Orta. Although the walks were not particularly long we found plenty to interest us in thw way of buildings, history, flowers and birds as well as the lakes themselves. We were glad we added a day at the start to give us an oppor6 to use the local ferries to get to the garden islands and across the lakes. We liked our hotels, all different in character but all felt friendly and relaxed. Breakfast on a sunny terrace with tree sparrows at our feet and swallows zipping past is hard to beat

My friend did the booking and liaising with On Foot but I did it last holiday and we both found them attentive, prompt and obliging with our questions and requests.

We had never been to the Italian Lake district and found it to be a breathtaking experience. It was fun taking the ferry around. The walks took us to islands and neighboring woods and meadows. The islands of Lake Maggiore offered so much in the way of sumptuous palaces, beautiful gardens and quaint towns. Everywhere we looked there were flowers blooming. Walking in the mountains and along ridges was gorgeous. Along the way we met interesting people.

On Foot Holidays continues to be my favorite walking tour company and we've done 16 distance walks now and used 5 companies but On Foot hands down is the best we've experienced. The personalized nature of the materials and staff is a big draw. We like that there is a local contact should we need one. The materials provided are always comprehensive and of high quality. Our luggage transfers are done without a hitch. The places we stay are excellent.

We had a great walking holiday, despite inclement weather, exploring Lake Maggiore and its islands then walking from Lake Maggiore via Mottarone to enchanting Lake Orta. We saw beautiful unspoiled areas, some wonderful small villages and towns and of course many local churches. The accommodation and food along the way was also excellent and met our expectations.

On Foot Holidays are a very professional and reputable niche travel operator. Their website of tour offerings is comprehensive, they are easy and responsive to deal with internationally through all facets of the booking, payment, travel documentation and travel execution phases. All aspects of our holiday went smoothly (even allowing for some inclement weather issues). Their investment in a new GPS based App is a great development as well, adding confidence and ease to the walking experience.

In May 2024, our group of four friends completed the On Foot Holidays Lake Maggiore route. It had long been our dream to travel together in Northern Italy. It was a memorable experience because of the beautiful landscape and especially as we were visiting small villages. We loved hiking through this spectacular countryside and the views of the lakes and the mountains. We enjoyed the accommodation organised by OFH which was in great locations and authentic. We ate some of our best meals in Italy on this trip, again very interesting, varied and authentic local cuisine. We added extra days at Isola Pescatore to explore the Borromean Islands and at Orta San Giulio to rest. It was even better than we were expecting!

OFH were extremely knowledgeable, professional and well organised. We felt very well supported at every step. When we were planning, they helped with suggestions for APPS, dates, meals, accommodation, extra nights, transport and timetables. Basically, how to get the best out of our holiday. Our local guide was amazing, keeping in touch daily, checking on how we going, what the weather was doing and what we needed. She was very interested in our feedback about the walks. She was really looked after us when circumstances changed with the G7 meeting in the area. Thank you!

There were 6 of us ages 30-75. We had a wonderful trip! Well organized and beautiful! All hotels were terrific. Wonderful meals. Nice variety of hikes.

This is my 3rd trip with On Foot Holidays. We plan to use them again next year. It's a great value and they are really nice to work with! I have recommended them many times!
