Dolmites South Tyrol walking tour

We stayed two nights in each village except one night in the Refugio. The hiking app was great anytime we went off the hiking path it would alert us. The hikes were different and almost always had an easier version (cab drive, ski lift etc).

On foot was our tour operator. They provided a local guide we could contact and ask questions. She was always responsive and helpful. It was great because it was a self guided tour but we had the perks of an app and a local guide who helped us whenever we had questions.

A magnificent walk through the Dolomites

We chose On Foot's 5-night Dolomite route but added a 6th night at the end so we could do the new Lagazuoi Circuit hike out of Cortina. We loved every minute of our holiday! On Foot's expertise and attention to detail ensured that each day of walking through this magnificent landscape proceeded seamlessly and was pure joy. We could not have asked for a better experience.

On Foot made us feel like we were their only client. Every email we sent was answered promptly and thoroughly, and we especially appreciated all the guidance they sent us (bus schedules, etc.,) about getting to and from our walk. We felt very well prepared before we left on our holiday and very well looked after during it. On Foot's mobile App is amazing!

Adventures without the stress

We did a five night/four day walking holiday through The Dolomites from San Candido to Cortina. We stayed one night in a refugio/hütte and two nights in Misurina to allow for a circular walk. It was challenging at times but the views were breathtaking and we were under no time pressure so could stop as needed to take it all in

On Foot Holidays organised all the hotels for our stay and for our luggage to be transported to our next over night accommodation (except for the hütte) They provided us with an app with our own personalised holiday itinerary. Not only did it give us information about the area, cultural and historical, but a digital map of our route that followed us and set an alarm if it noticed we’d ’gone off piste’ which was incredibly useful at times! Their communication before and during the holiday was excellent - especially when the weather turned inclement and they wanted to check we were ok. Booking the holiday was incredibly easy with all options discussed thoroughly. They were incredibly familiar with all the stops and the route so could advise on the best way to reach our starting point and organised car parking for our rental. All the overnight stays were comfortable, friendly and clean too. Definitely needed after a day of hard walking

Dolomites Done & Dusted

We did the 6 night Dolomites hike first week of July 2025, with one night staying in a Refuge. The weather was amazing, a little rain on day one about 3km from finish but otherwise amazing. The hikes accommodation was nothing short of wonderful and the hike was out of this world especially day climbing to the Tre Cime. Wonderful memories and highly recommended.

We have used On Foot Holidays once before and so impressed with the hike and their attention to detail that we were only going to use them when we wanted to do the Dolomites. They are so organised, helpful and easy to use that we have had no issues for either hike and have recommended them to others who are now using them. Amazing job On Foot Holidays- keep up the great work. Thanks so much you made this part of the holiday easy.

A wonderful introduction to the Dolomites

I could not have asked for a better introduction to one of the world's most spectacular mountain ranges. The trip began in the old, German speaking town of Innchen/San Candido and worked its way to Misurina on the Italian speaking side which serves as a base camp for the UNESCO rated Tre Cime di Lavaredo, the open air World War I museum of Monte Piana, and a wide variety of other spectacular mountain trails. It then went on to Cortina d'Ampezzo, the glitzy site of the 2026 Winter Olympics, from which there was a variety of trails available, including perhaps the most spectacular mountain vista I've seen from Italy's highest Refugio. Other than the area immediately around the Tre Cime, the routes were carefully picked to avoid the crowds, allowing a much more relaxed way of appreciating the mountains. The hotels each had a real sense of place and were picked to present different perspectives on the visitor experience in the region. As has consistently been my experience with On Foot walks, the logistics were flawless and the background information and trip notes superb.

Rating for tour operator:

This was my 9th walk with On Foot. I keep on returning because of the company's commitment to finding unique, and quality walking experiences which have been carefully vetted and curated by the central office staff and supported by committed local representatives, who have always been available for up to date logistical considerations or information about the area in general. The route choices have consistently been picked to show the unique aspects of the area rather than following a "standard route" along with a herd of other walkers. The mechanics of the lodgings, transfers, and luggage transfers have always worked seamlessly, and the local providers have shown a consistent and loyal appreciation of their On Foot connection. As I have finished each walk, I have always looked forward to finding the next one.

Excellent introduction to hiking in the Dolomites

Our five-day tour of the Dolomites gave us the chance to explore a variety of beautiful hiking routes, staying at delightful hotels and enjoying the Tyrolean vibe. Routes included river valleys, alpine meadows and rocky plateaux, with a range of optional alternatives to choose from.
