An excellent Ciceroni Visit to Butler County: South East Ireland in September 2015

We were based in a luxurious hotel with a Michelin star restaurant and beautiful grounds. We had a very thorough tour of gardens, castles and houses, Waterford Museum and all the while being told the complicated history of Ireland in easily remembered bite size pieces. We were entertained for lunch by the owners of the some of the places we visited too. It was all fascinating and fun, as well as being stimulating making me want to find out ...

It was all fascinating and fun, as well as being stimulating making me want to find out more about a lovely friendly country. We were very well looked after and guided by Tom Duncan.

Rating for tour operator:

As you will see from above, Ciceroni looked after us extremely well, chose the places we visited with care and made everything so interesting. I came back feeling I had had a very thorough tour of the SE corner of Ireland. On our return we received a reading list of books from which we could glean more information as a follow up to our visit.

bewildering

the history of Ireland, gardends, and houses, did come up to what was advertised. However, the group had over 85's in, and however lovely, amusing they where it did slow things up.

Well worth the money

Well planned and most interesting visits. Superb hotel, and most informative lectures. A variety of properties and places to visit, which gave a total view of the area of Ireland round Kilkenny.

Butler country! Houses & Gardens of South East Ireland

What can you say? It would not be the same without Tom's Overview. We particularly enjoyed his discussion of Irish History.Very varied visits but without exception all well worth visiting.Mount Juliet was a superb base with large and comfortable bedrooms. Staff were excellent and dinners at the lady Helen restaurant superb both as a group and privately.

Delightful visit to Southern Ireland

Stayed for 5 nights at the very comfortable Mount Juliet House. Staff helpful and friendly though a little spring clean in places would not come amiss. Visited cathedral, museum and castle in Kilkenny, country houses and castles in the area and some romantic ruins. Shown round by a butler, estate manager and even an Earl who spent the day with us and entertained us to lunch together with his wife. Visits were all most interesting and enjoyable...

Shown round by a butler, estate manager and even an Earl who spent the day with us and entertained us to lunch together with his wife. Visits were all most interesting and enjoyable. Meals provided were all of a very high standard. Coach travel was comfortable with a first class driver. Talks both on the coach and at properties by Tom Duncan were detailed, interesting and thought provoking. We have returned with a far better understanding of the complicated history of Ireland. This was a most enjoyable tour with a delightful group of like minded people and we felt privileged to visit some sights not normally open to the public.

Rating for tour operator:

We have travelled with Ciceroni several times. We have always had excellent service from initial enquiries at Head Office through to the tours themselves. Ciceroni and Tom Duncan himself always go the extra mile to make us feel comfortable and valued.
