5 day Self guided walking holiday in the Vikos mountains of Greece. Great mix of scenery, picturesque villages and lovely food and drink. Rough terrain in places and definitely not easy - but that was what we wanted

This north west corner of Greece, bordering with Albania, is home to some truly dramatic scenery with the majestic Vikos Gorge at it's centre. Some of the hiking is rugged and elemental with sections of scrambling and scrabbling and then some is along gentle wooded paths into small villages where you are greeted with warmth by locals. It still felt undiscovered and the journey to get there is part of the experience. We did all the hiking options, no short cuts or days off - wouldnt have wanted to have missed any of it!

We were are group of 6 and it is the 3rd time we have travelled with On Foot. They arranged bespoke travel for us to and from Igounitsa and made recommendations for hotels for onward travel. The hiking instructions, maps and app, were all excellent and easy to use. Everyone you speak to in the office always seems to be up to date with your particular trip with first hand experience of individual locations.

Fabulous holiday! Some of the best and most challenging hiking we have ever done. A fabulous and little known/visited part of Greece.

We went on the Vikos Gorge trip over 5 days. Northern Greece is absolutely beautiful and I'm so glad we got to see it. The guest houses were fantastic and the hosts were so welcoming. The hikes were amazing and clearly marked throughout the journey. We had a great time and can't wait to choose our next walking trip.

On Foot were amazing from start to finish - they had great communication and were really helpful over the whole trip.

Our first multi day self-guided hike with the highly recommended On Foot Holidays was challenging in its terrain but most enjoyable as an overall experience. The Vikos Gorge and Kapesovo Circuit were incredible places in which to hike and spend time sitting, observing and taking interesting photos. We felt very well supported by the company and loved all the guesthouses they organised for us. All our local hosts, especially the delightful driver and tour guide, were very friendly and helpful. After three long days of increasingly hard hikes (and my feet complaining!) we didn’t start the Dragon Lake walk, and instead enjoyed the lovely Sterna cafe in Papingo, and chose an easier hike along to the glorious Red Cliff face later on.

Highly efficient and helpful, prompt to answer our questions as well as genuinely keen to receive our feedback. We can’t wait to go with On Foot Holidays again soon!

A week's hiking in Zagora, including the Vikos gorge, organised with On Foot Travel. I'm a keen and fit walker, but should add that I'm sixty, but the walks were exactly the right blend of adventure and enjoyment, with alternatives for most days if you felt you needed a rest. The walk through the Vikos gorge was one of the highlights of fifty years of walking - hard, but so spectacular that at some points it quite literally took my breath away.

I hadn't been with them before, but their itineraries attracted me as they're all self-guided walks in areas which are not heavily touristed. The instructions for the walks were meticulous and their attention to detail exemplary. The small family run hotels were full of character and interest, and the entire week went without a single hitch. A holiday of a lifetime (I should add that I'm well-travelled!) and one that will live long in my memory.

OMG that was THE BEST trip I’ve ever taken. I have been to Greece probably around 45 times, my dad is Greek and I’ve gone every summer since I was a kid and sometimes I go in the spring as well. But I’ve never been to this area of Greece before. I am still thinking about the beauty of the land and villages, the friendliness of the people, the wonderful accommodations, the delicious food, and of course the (hard) but satisfying walks and hikes. Amazing. I think I will only travel through On Foot Holidays from now on! Everything was so well organzied, we just showed up at our accommodations and they were expecting us. We often wanted to start our walk early in the morning, our hosts were very willing to adjust our breakfast time or pack a breakfast for us. Such nice people. Thank you for everything. For the organized and very detailed walkers packet and for this lovely opportunity to visit this amazing area of Greece.
