On Foot provide such good service at every stage of the holiday. They provide friendly advice on the choice of route, travel options and accommodation. We enjoy the lenght of walks provided and the lovely hotels they find for us to stay in. The walking instructions are clear and they add to this with an excellent app with lots of useful information.

Absolutely brilliant holiday experience

Our 6 day walk in the beautiful Dordogne was like walking in a dream. Fairytale castles and bucolic villages abounded, strung together by wildflower lined paths in dappled shade. All designed by OnFootHolidays to provide the maximum enjoyment while providing enough walking challenges for the fit and unfit alike.

Great

Was all good the new app definitely helped make life easier to navigate. Only had a couple of days of rain but we were lucky with the walking as only rained on us once and not for long. Having extra days in the villages worked well as it helped us explore the areas more. The village and country people were all so very friendly and would go out of their way to have a chat with you.

Lovely, peaceful walking in the Dordogne.

My sister and I picked this are to walk inspired by the Bruno Chief of Police mystery books by Martin Walker. The hotels were great as was the food. We appreciated that most nights included a meal at the hotel which gave us more time to relax after walking 8-15 miles. Breakfast ...

We spent 7 wonderful days walking through valleys and up to plateaus, through farmland, forests, villages, on wide and narrow paths, with few people and no traffic. The hotels were great as was the food. We appreciated that most nights included a meal at the hotel which gave us more time to relax after walking 8-15 miles. Breakfast buffets were always generous and most offered quite a variety as were the packed lunches that were included most days. The app was extremely helpful as it would warn us if we made a wrong turn. We carried paper instructions and a map for each day as well, so with all three, we were never confused for long. The weather was pleasant except for a couple of rainy days, but we were prepared.

All questions ahead of the trip were answered promptly and we appreciated the flexibility when we wanted to change the itinerary a bit. We also got a chance to visit local tour operator, Emily for coffee and cookies on the first day's circuit walk.

Beautiful walking holiday in the Dordogne

Starting October 6, 2024, we spent a week in the Dordogne. Six of those days we were walking, and we took one day off in the middle. The route was beautiful, and not too terribly strenuous, averaging 8 to 10 miles a day. we used a couple of shortening options by riding with the luggage. Our accommodations were always good and we especially loved the food.

On Foot was very involved and communicative from the first time that we contacted them. This is our fourth trip that we have made with On Foot Holidays. They also talked with us on the phone before hand to help us pick a route. Well hiking, their on the ground person was involved and got in touch from the beginning. She even made it possible for us to rent a car on our day off and visit a cave.

A beautiful walk through the countryside of SW France.

Our party was a group of nine long time friends. This is the third annual walk that we have taken together (and second using On Foot). We all enjoy the exercise and appreciating the countryside at a slow pace. An organized walk with a daily destination and departure time, minimizes decisions that a group has to make, and we like this aspect. We all enjoy the exercise and appreciating the countryside at a slow pace. An organized walk with a daily destination and departure time, minimizes decisions that a group has to make, and we like this aspect. Of the walks we have done, I believe most were in agreement that this beautiful valley is at the top so far! It was not just the beauty of the landscape, but the quaint medieval villages that we passed through and had our lodging. Around every corner there were new and interesting sites.

Rating for tour operator:

I have appreciated the ease of communication and prompt, thorough replies to our questions. The tours are very well organized, and we have appreciated the flexibility to modify a few things upon request.

Beautiful, well designed itinerary in the Dordogne

Our itinerary each day was well designed, moving through landscapes and terrain that were always changing. It was challenging for us but not overwhelmingly so. Every day was different, so variable - wooded paths, open farmland, fields of lavender, sorghum, corn, orchards of walnut trees and apples, steep ravines whose sides were covered in limestone scree, and villages, often with sites to see. It's hard to think of anything we didn't like.

The OnFoot team was very responsive to our questions and very well-informed. The app they asked us to try out was excellent as was the booklet with notes on the various towns.

Dordogne France Walking Holiday

Fabulous 4-day/5-night walking holiday in the Dordogne region of France. Stunningly beautiful and varied landscape featuring medieval castles and villages, farms, and wooded areas in a river valley and high plateaus. Weather in late September was picture perfect. We walked between 8 and 11 miles each day (about 5-6 1/2 hours for us).

They are extremely well organized and thorough in covering everything one might want to know in preparing for a trip -- they leave no stone unturned! Bravo!!

Dordogne - beautiful scenery, historic buildings, peaceful surroundings

A 6 day walk, with daily walking distances (after a taxi ride on some days to lessen the walking distance) of 13 - 18 km. Interesting geology and archeology. Hot and humid, which made the hotel swimming pools on two days an enticing goal. Excellent hotel accommodation with good food and wines

On Foot sent me an app with a GPS tracker, which I found very helpful - I would have been lost without it! They also have an English speaking local contact at the start of the walk, who made time to meet me, and who wrote excellent notes on the history and culture of the places I walked through. The luggage transfer, hotel bookings and taxi service at the start and end of the walk, as well as a couple of taxi rides to lessen the total walking distance on a couple of days, went without a hitch.
