Great personalized service
10 day walking trip in the Dordogne region. Walks were well chosen with fascinating medieval villages and interesting countryside. Walks were the right amount of challenge (length and elevation) with good options to shorten if needed. Hotels were nicely varied, with excellent and warm service. Planned suppers at most of the hotels were excellent - could not have been better. Pick up driving service very friendly and efficient.

Provided personalized service - did not feel like a large company.

Dordogne family hike
Amazing family hike. We did the 6 day hike along the Dordogne with our 6 and 9 year olds. The trip was well organised and planned. The booking were adequate and appropriate. The food choices were excellent and an eye opener for those of us from down under. We used the shortenings as they were more suitable for walking with children. We managed about 15km on most days in decent weather.

On Foot Holidays kept us informed in the months before the trip, had a very attentive local contact and in sum provided spectacular support.

Hassle free walking holiday
Excellently detailed walking holiday maps/notes and support available from local representative. Hotels all good, friendly, not overwhelming.

Our tour operator was On Foot. Their service was perfect - from the initial booking to the holiday itself we felt so well looked after with every need catered for. A truly personal and thoughtful service that is increasingly rare these days.

What a glorious hiking experience! History, fabulous views, lovely quaint inns in tiny villages and oh the food and wine and cheese offerings🎉 The On Foot Holiday team supporting this route was amazing and personable.

The On Foot Holidays team supporting this tour was superb; checking in with us and allowing us to tailor our daily distances and always getting our luggage to our next destination. This year they added an app that kept us on the right path.

Charming and unforgettable in Dordogne
Four of us in our 70's (all experienced hikers in reasonably good shape) did the 7 night/6 day Dordogne trip. We did it early May 2025 and the flowers everywhere are a bonus hiking at that time. The route was so lovely, the towns so charming, the food everywhere was very good. Not a touristy part of the Dordogne except Rocamadour and the Gauffre de Padirac, both of which are worth it anyways. The hikes were varied and hard enough but not ...

Not a touristy part of the Dordogne except Rocamadour and the Gauffre de Padirac, both of which are worth it anyways. The hikes were varied and hard enough but not crazy hard. We liked the option, on a couple of the long hikes, to hire the bags driver to take us partway. The first couple of hotels were more modest but clean and in great locations and friendly hosts. The last 4 hotels were very nice, elegant but not fussy. Belcastel was a special treat. We wished we had booked an extra night there to spend a little more time enjoying it and relaxing before moving on. Highly recommend!

This was my 6th European self-guided hiking trip and the 4th tour operator. OnFoot was the best of all I have experienced. Their response time, helpfulness, great route and lodging, willingness to meet some special requests, were outstanding. Their app is very user-friendly but also detailed and comprehensive. I loved that meals were included many nights - one less thing to worry about after a day of hiking.

Warm, carefully-guided experience in Dordogne.
This was our first time in Dordogne, and our first experience with OnFoot Holidays. We were very taken by the detailed description of the route, sometimes with tiny details noted ("The track becomes an asphalt lane. It passes a house with an arched porch, and, just as the road turns to the left at a 6t sign, find a waymarked grassy track off to the R (300m)." The carefully-chosen route allowed us to spend very little time on roads, and we had ...

OnFoot Holidays was impeccably responsive to the few questions we had (For example, we once wanted to arrange an early pick-up to miss some of the day's heat,), and our baggage was transported efficiently and promptly. What more could one want?

A Walking Holiday in the South of France --- The Dordogne Valley
My wife and I made a 6-day walking tour of the Dordogne region of France. Our tour operator was "On Foot Holidays" which we used for a previous self-directed walking tour of the Dorset region of England. The walks were bucolic, well-marked, and beautiful. Varied scenery was the norm, ranging from pastoral vistas to moderate climbs, cascading waterfalls, and quaint villages. Accommodations at the end of the day provided a warm welcome for us ...

Varied scenery was the norm, ranging from pastoral vistas to moderate climbs, cascading waterfalls, and quaint villages. Accommodations at the end of the day provided a warm welcome for us as well as a delicious dinner and a warm and comfortable bed. The next morning we had breakfast and most of the hotels provided a packed lunch too! Despite not being French-speakers, we had virtually no problems with communication. We simply loved our time in "the Dordogne" and look forward to our next adventure with "On Foot Holidays".
Rating for tour operator:

We discovered "On Foot Holidays" on an Internet search looking for self-directed walking holidays. The web site was the most organized and helpful of all the companies we reviewed. Communication with OFH was easy and always helpful. Further, there was a sense of true caring and wanting to do the very best for us. Responses were always personal. It felt as if we were part of a "family". All aspects of the trip were exceedingly well-organized ranging from the accommodations to the taxi service for transporting our luggage as well at times ourselves. There was voluminous background information provided about what we might see along the way as well as historical information that provided a real context for what we were seeing. OFH also provided information as to how we were to get from the airport to our initial destination as well as information on getting from our last destination to the airport. OFH provided an App that all pertinent information was available with the click of our iPhone, and it also had details about our daily walks and a GPS function that ensured that we never were at risk of getting lost. I have nothing but the highest praise for the organization and people that power this tour operator. It is of the highest caliber.

Dordogne - Gorgeous walk through the French countryside
A magnificent 7 days of walking through the beautiful rolling hillsides, farmlands, forests , and medieval villages, all interspersed with amazing views along the way. There were also side ventures from visiting a Medieval Castle to exploring massive underground caves. All of the logistics were impeccably organized. The hotels and inns we stayed at made us feel welcome and we met some bright souls along the way. The food we ate was also fabulous ...

There were also side ventures from visiting a Medieval Castle to exploring massive underground caves. All of the logistics were impeccably organized. The hotels and inns we stayed at made us feel welcome and we met some bright souls along the way. The food we ate was also fabulous as it included some Michelin restaurants. The weather was very good with only one day of rain, and the rest generally sunny and warm.

OnFoot was super friendly, organized and helpful before during and after our trip. Everything went according to plan. The walking instructions were clear and the app they provided was helpful and kept us on track. The accomodations were varied but all enjoyable in their own way. The local contact was always available to help during our travel and we took advantage of this a couple of times to help arrange short cuts and trips to visit some sights.
