A friend and I did an Inn to Inn self guided walking tour from La Brigue to Menton over six days.

On Foot Holidays is the best operator I have experienced yet. It was my third self guided walking tour, and while the two previous operators were fine, On Foot performed to an even higher standard. They obtained excellent acommodations, provided us with an excellent app and were always available and responsive. When we added an extra day to the beginning of the trip at the last moment, they promptly made plans for us with two options of circuit tours and updated our holiday app. Our culinary preferences were accurately conveyed to all hosts and we were updated about ever minor changes of plan as soon as was possible (e.g. a restaurant closure)

The four of us had a wonderful time hiking in the Alpes Maritimes. The views were spectacular, all our accommodations were excellent and the whole trip was very well thought-out.

This was my second time travelling with On Foot and I was very happy with them again. Everything was well-planned and seamless which made the trip very easy for us.

My daughter and I did this trip the first week of October 2025. The whole experience was incredible, from the little villages, to the lodging and wonderful hosts to the food and finally the weather-it could not have been better. The hikes each day were strenous but shorter options were always available. The information booklet as well as the daily hiking step by step instructions were excellent.

On Foot Holidays was incredibly thorough and professional through every phase of the trip. When we had questions, they were immediately responsive to our needs. Our contact in the area was also very helpful and responsive.

We spent 5 days hiking in the Alpes Maritimes. Everything was booked for us by On Foot: the hotels and bed and breakfasts that we stayed at (mostly half board, with packed lunches provided); the transportation of our luggage between hotels so that we only had to carry a day bag on our hikes; the routes planned in meticulous detail and a delivered via a GPS enabled app which was very easy to follow. The organisation was excellent, as was the choice of hotels and hosts at each stop. And we loved that as well as keeping us on our routes (the app beeped at us if we started to stray from the path!) we were given loads of interesting information as we went on - the history of the area, the flora and fauna, geology etc. Hotels chosen were modest but clean, welcoming and generally with excellent food.

On Foot planned the holiday really well, with lots of contact beforehand, but a very light touch when we were actually on the holiday so that we were able to enjoy ourselves without feeling part of a tour. They also responded well to the odd problem that occurred, both with the local contact and the office staff back home.

It was a long walk in the Alpes Maritimes on the way to Menton on the Mediterranean sea. It was a lovely walk. I will say this particular itinerary had very challenging hiking so definitely it is not suited for beginner walkers or people who are afraid of exposure/heights.

This is not the first time I have used On Foot Holidays and they are consistently wonderful and highly responsive. The routes are very well planned, the accommodations are always excellent, and they now have an app that provides all maps and orientation to prevent getting lost, which was AMAZINGLY handy on this trek. I have already booked my next walk with them on the Lighthouse Way next year.

On Foot Holidays is an exceptionally thorough walking tour provider. Every detail that can be planned in advance is clearly and meticulously presented in an excellent app that also addresses factors beyond their control - weather, trail conditions, hiker capabilities - often with firm guidance. The Alpes Maritimes route offered a variety of scenery and discoveries. We visited tiny villages, roman ruins, a limestone kiln, shepherd huts, olive orchards, water falls, and more. We hiked through aromatic Spanish broom and wild sage, shady forests and tall grasses. The trails were flat, steep, smooth, rocky, dirt, scree, pavement, narrow, wide, overgrown and clear. The accommodations were top notch - comfortable lodging, outstanding (and plentiful) food and gracious hosts who knew exactly how to make the evening respites and morning breakfasts as enjoyable and restorative as needed. We learned so much about the people and history of this region, and about ourselves. Though we were more than prepared for the arduous climbing and walking, we lacked experience navigating rocky, overgrown paths and had occasional difficulties with wayfinding. That and the high temperatures slowed and discouraged us at first. We adapted, though, and became more prepared (water and food) and skilled (interpreting trail signs, pushing through brush and navigating scree). "Challenging and rewarding" is a phrase we've seen used to describe the Alpes Maritimes holiday, and it is both of those indeed.

On Foot Holidays was exceptionally attentive and responsive throughout the experience - as we were exploring the possibility of this holiday, as we were planning the details of our adventure and during the days on the trail.

It is easy to enjoy most walking holidays when the sun is on your back, but when the experience is so good that you barely notice the rain you know you are onto a winner! And the sun did shine quite a bit too... Our fourth holiday with On Foot, the Alpes Maritimes definately did not disappoint. October walking meant barely another soul to be seen but, boy, we have never seen so many colourful mushrooms! No need to worry that the flowers would be over either, October is a great month to walk this route. Being quite wooded, no doubt it would be cool in the hotter months too and when the views open up they are spectacular. Excellent accomodation choices as well, impossible to find fault with anything.

On Foot have retained a very personal approach to what they do and they do it well. The attention to detail is spot on and they adjust swiftly and respond to feedback if things (such as local travel disruptions) change. The information pack for the walk is comprehensive and reliable, the app seems to work, and the local support is there when you need it. We definately plan to use On Foot again. Excellent.

A 5 day walk in the Alpes Maritimes Demanding walk but it was an adventure. It we had needed help we were confident that it was available. the two of us were self guiding with excellent maps, printed and on our phones. Stunning scenery and we hardly met another soul until we reached our destination at the end of each day. My companion, a 16 year old granddaughter is hoping we will do another trip

Efficient and friendly

A 5-night walking holiday in south-east France. Organisation was first-class, and provision of walk guidance was very good. Generally the accommodation and food provided were excellent, although not always.

We had not come across On Foot Holidays before, but we were very impressed with their efficient and yet personal service. A large amount of useful information was provided to help us enjoy our holiday to the full.
