We have just returned from spending 2 magical weeks in Costa Rica. We spent the first part of the trip at 2 different locations in the Osa Peninsula, both of which were wonderful in terms of the accommodation (Copa de Arbol at Drakes Bay & El Remanso at Puerto Jiminez), the food, the fantastically attentive and friendly staff, and the amazing wildlife all around us. The highlight was undoubtedly a dolphin and whale watching trip on the stunningly beautiful Golfo Dulce. The second part of the holiday was spent in the Arenal region at the truly outstanding Nayara Tented Camp, with its jaw-dropping accommodation and first class staff, who ensure that your every wish is catered for. We were also fortunate to be in that area on the nation’s Independence Day, which meant that we could go down into the town and enjoy the celebrations, including a wonderfully colourful parade. We also had outstanding business class flights from the UK to Costa Rica via Paris with Air France - which were arranged for us by JLA.

We have now booked our trips to Latin America with JLA for a large number of years, We have always received first class service from them, including on occasions whilst we have been abroad. On one occasion my husband fell ill in the Brazilian Amazon, and they arranged to have someone meet us at the airport in Manaus, who took him to a doctor for treatment that then enabled us to continue with our holiday. It is so reassuring to know that you have that kind of backup available to you should problems arise.

From the start to finish of our holiday, we (group of 4) simply had so much fun. We had the experience of four different habitats and varied modes of transportation. The wild life, flora and fauna in its natural way was simply so enriching, mind blowing and you could not have expected any more from the two weeks in a place where you can easily lose yourself. The warm hospitality and friendliness from everyone we came in contact with will always linger in my heart. There was nothing too much for them to assist with. Always wanted to do more. The food was really good considering beans and rice is their staple morning, noon and night however, when you ventured out, it was not the case. The spices, flavours and freshness of the ingredients made waves in your mouth. Totally unexpected and hugely appreciated. We thought we would see more sloths however, we cannot be more thankful to our guides for locating 10 for us to see. White water rafting was my personal favourite as it was simply a experience to be had. Kayaking through the mangroves and discovering the zillions of bird species made wading through so worthwhile. Snorkelling with turtles and barracudas was a great highlight too and watch an ant eater climb down a tree was spectacular. What an amazing holiday and thank you to Chris and JLA team for making dreams come true!

We visited Tortuguero National Park, Tirimbina Lodge and Reserve at Sarapiqui, Arenal area, Nosara, Monteverde and San Jose. We stayed in beautiful hotels, took numerous trips with local guides, and had a hire car for all of our trip except to Tortuguero.

JLA advised on and organised the whole trip and did an excellent job. All went like clockwork, all the hotels and activities and guides were excellent, and we had a fabulous time.

We stayed on the caribbean coast in Tortuguero for 3 nights. Amazingly quiet, so much wildlife and enthusiastic guides to show it all to us. Then 4 nights in La Fortuna with more wildlife/hikes/ zip-wiring/ hanging bridge tour, lots of adventure and fun! Finally 6 nights surfing on the Pacific coast, nosara.

We stayed in six places around Costa Rica, with the aim of seeing as much wildlife as possible, in just over two weeks.

We used Journey Latin America as they were recommended by a colleague. We felt that we had good value for money and had a great holiday experience. The hotels were great and the travel arrangements all worked well. We managed to see a lot of wildlife, so very happy about that.
