Grand tour of northern spain

The organisation of the holiday was excellent and the Vamoos App provided by Casas Cantabricas proved to be an essential practical partner to the smoothing running of our holiday throughout. We had never travelled to Northern Spain before and from the first telephone conversation we had with Casas Cantabricas we had the confidence that we were talking to people who genuinely loved this area of Spain; were thoroughly knowledgeable about the region and had an established network of small family owned 'hotels' which would suit the type of intimate experience we were looking for. We were confident we were working with a 'safe pair of hands' and this proved to be the case with this thouroughly enjoyable and interesting holiday.

We had a fantastic road trip right through Spain..and all arranged for us!

We had a shiny new car at Xmas and decided to go on a road trip across Spain as soon as we could. As we had no knowledge of the Spanish mainland we searched the internet for a tour operator to arrange an itinery - and found casas_cantabricas. A couple of e mails later we had a proposed crossing, route, suggested hotels etc. I am Mr fussy but with minimal changes all was agreed. A couple of e mails later we had a proposed crossing, route, suggested hotels etc. I am Mr fussy but with minimal changes all was agreed. In April (2016) we enjoyed a 10 night tour taking in Salamanca, Seville, Grenada etc covering nearly 2000 miles. Everything went fantastically and the itinery proved spot on for us as first time visitors and the hotels were all well located and each a little bit special. Added bonus includes advice on each area, hotel upgrades etc. and we had a super holiday.

Rating for tour operator:

Friendly, approachable, v knowledgeable and to coin a phrase exceeded our expectations😀

Many thanks for that Craig - yours was quite a bespoke route taking in elements of several of our standard routes and we're so glad that it worked out so well. Even more chuffed now we know that you're 'Mr Fussy'!

A fantastic adventure with no dramas

We found out about Asturias in Time on line and having acquired a new car we decided a tour of the region would be best. I found Casas Cantabrias on the web and called him to give the charming owner, Andy, an idea of what we wanted to do and see. Well I was impressed with his knowledge of the region and the itinerary that he sent us was fantastic. Plymouth to Sanatander, 5 stops over 12 days - perfect and that is what it was. Well I was impressed with his knowledge of the region and the itinerary that he sent us was fantastic. Plymouth to Sanatander, 5 stops over 12 days - perfect and that is what it was. The hotels were authentic, rustic, run by lovely people who were welcoming and charming. The empty roads are a delight to drive on and the extra advice as well as maps and books as well as Vamoos that Andy sent us were second to none! It was a fault free holiday in a region that mostly Spanish is spoken, completely authentic and missing the usual holiday maker you find elsewhere in resorts.

Rating for tour operator:

Thoroughly knowledgeable, absolutely on the pace, really good staff, excellent back up and very well organised. Excellent selection of hotels and a wonderful route

Thanks Keith that's wonderful - seems we really hit the mark!
We do like to think of our holidays as 'real travel' with the benefit of being at the same time short-haul, or even, as in your case 'no-fly' and it seems that would fit with your experience. It's really satisfying when it works out - most appreciated!

Beautiful Northern Spain

We covered La Rioja, the Picos and Santillana del Mar. All very beautiful, unspoilt, not too touristy in the main, maybe due to time of travel - end May beginning June. Good roads, good driving. Just what we were looking for.

Rating for tour operator:

Found them on the internet, they were able to put together an itinery for us, to cover the areas were wanted to visit, arranged the car hire and accommodation. From the time of booking we were impressed with their service and their choice of accommodation proved very good. We will certainly consider using them again for any holidays in Northern Spain and would recommend them unreservedly.

WONDERFUL EXCITING THRILLING HOLIDAY OF A LIFETIME!

Magical trip .....with three very different locations. Starting in a medieval city and finishing in Tamas in the Picos mountains. Completely stress free holiday as Andy had booked the hotels, organised the routes and we just relaxed and arrived at our destinations with ease. Felt as if we had been away for ages and one glorious day after another unfolded. We will return and 100 percent recommend Andy and Casa Cantabricas.

A well organised holiday with good hotels and a good route though Northern Spain

The holiday was very well organised. Everything went smoothly with the hire car, the hotels and the taxi transfers, and all the people involved in these (and with the bookings) were friendly and efficient. Everything went smoothly with the hire car, the hotels and the taxi transfers, and all the people involved in these (and with the bookings) were friendly and efficient. The route selected met our needs entirely, and took us to the key parts of Northern Spain. Hotel selection was good, both in terms of the quality of the hotels and their accessibility (particularly for Bilbao as the hotel was easily located by car, and the city centre was very close and easily and pleasantly reached via the funicular railway. The idea of leaving the hire car at Santiago airport and doing the remaining transfers by taxis was very good, as a car would just be a hindrance in Santiago. All the above made for a pleasant and sress-free holiday.

Rating for tour operator:

Very friendly, efficient and easy to deal with when booking, and clearly had the experience and knowledge to put together an excellent package of route, transfers and hotels. The Vamoos application (on Ipad for me) worked very well and meant my documentation was all in one place. A nice touch was the arrival of a guidebook and map shortly before we left.

Thanky you so much David - that's most appreciated! We're so glad we hit the mark with the hotels and that you appreciated some of the finer details (like the transfers in Santiago and the hotel location in Bilbao) which we like to think make the whole thing tick

Wonderful 2 weeks in Andalucia

We have just spent 2 glorious weeks touring Andalucia. It is an area we have wanted to explore since visiting the Alhambra last year, and when we met Andy at the Destinations show in Olympia we decided he had taken all the hard work out of organizing such a trip. We have just spent 2 glorious weeks touring Andalucia. It is an area we have wanted to explore since visiting the Alhambra last year, and when we met Andy at the Destinations show in Olympia we decided he had taken all the hard work out of organizing such a trip. We were not disappointed. Route was planned, itineraries provided and hotels booked. We had a mix of seaside, mountains, architecture, culture and amazing scenery and sights during the 2 weeks. We absolutely loved Cordoba, Ronda and Seville, which we could easily visit from Carmona. All the hotels with the exception of one were excellent, and the sorts of places we probably would not have found or chosen on our own.

Rating for tour operator:

Andy was extremely knowledgeable about the area and very helpful answering queries and providing any details we needed. The itineraries he provided to find hotels, and travel between places were in the main very accurate, although some we didn't believe because the streets in the old towns were so narrow! We were extremely happy with all aspects of the holiday and would thoroughly recommend Casas Cantabricas.
