Follow the twists and turns of the mighty Mekong River on this itinerary designed to give you a real insight and understanding into how life is lived along the banks and in the Mekong Delta region. Explore markets, pagodas, and local villages, ending this unique trip with some downtime on one of Vietnam’s least developed and beautiful beach destination.

Touring style: Professional English speaking guide and driver, private basis.

Best time to visit is during the dry season, from November to February.

Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City to Can Tho

Depart with your driver and guide by vehicle from Ho Chi Minh City to My Tho, a bustling town in the Mekong Delta. Visit the Vinh Trang Pagoda before boarding a local boat to explore the islands of the Mekong. The trip also includes a brief sampan ride through the tiny waterways that thread the island. From My Tho Continue onwards through the Mekong Delta to Can Tho for overnight.

Distance and journey time: 180 km, 4 hours

Day 2: Can Tho to Chau Doc

Explore the Cai Rang Floating Market by boat. Afterwards, drive from Can Tho to Chau Doc and take an excursion to the Sam Mountain which rises sharply from the surrounding rice paddies. Visit Lady Chua Xu Pagoda at the base of the mountain. From the Hang Pagoda, there is the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful panoramic view over the surrounding countryside all the way to the Cambodian border. Overnight in Chau Doc.

Distance and journey time: 120 km, 2 hours

Day 3: Chau Doc and floating markets

Explore the bustling river life around Chau Doc and visit the floating villages. Continue to the distinctive Cham Village on the other side of the river and visit its Muslim community.

Overnight in Chau Doc.

Day 4: Chau Doc to Can Tho / Phu Quoc

Drive to Can Tho Airport. (120 km, 2 hours)

Fly to Phu Quoc.

On arrival, the resort shuttle bus will transfer you to your resort for as many nights as you wish.

The island of Phu Quoc is one of Asia's least developed beach destinations. The island's clear waters, undiscovered beaches, forested interior and charming local character make for an ideal holiday escape. Phu Quoc is a snorkelling and diving paradise. Outlying islands and reefs make for fascinating exploration for either a half or full day trips. In the centre of the island are tropical forests, perfect for day hikes.

At the end of your beach stay, transfer to the airport for your flight to Ho Chi Minh City to continue with your Vietnam adventure.
