This tour takes in the highlights of the south – from the bright lights of Saigon and the underground tunnels of the Vietnam War to cruising the mighty Mekong Delta and spending your last days on a beautiful beach; the south has so much to offer. And better still, you don’t have to catch a single internal flight (unusual for Vietnam holidays).

DAY 1 - SET DOWN IN SAIGON
Welcome to the modern metropolis of Ho Chi Minh City (also known as Saigon). We have not planned anything for you today so you can relax at leisure but do look at our favourite rooftop bars in your Fleewinter travel app – perfect way to soak up the city on your first day. Your new address in Saigon is the fantastic Alagon d’Antique hotel in downtown district one (deluxe window room).

DAY 2 - CITY HIGHLIGHTS & FOODIE MOTORBIKE TOUR
This morning we will show you the best of Saigon – from the war history to architectural masterpieces like the cathedral and Central Post office, it’s the perfect overview with time to sink your teeth into the parts that interest you the most. Enjoy your afternoon at leisure before taking a fun foodie motorbike tour through the streets of Saigon this evening, stopping at our favourite haunts to sample some of the city’s finest cuisine on offer, culminating with a street side barbecue.

DAY 3 - EXPLORE THE UNDERGROUND WAR TUNNELS
This morning you will be take a speedboat to the famous Cu Chi Tunnels, more than 200 km of tunnels were built here by the Vietnamese guerrillas, where they lived and fought during the American War. You can explore the bedrooms, meeting rooms, air-raid shelters, smokeless kitchens, and experience a unique underground world. The best bit? Not only to you travel in speedboat to avoid the city traffic but you arrive before all the other tourists! Afternoon is free at leisure.

DAY 4 - EXPLORE THE MIGHTY MEKONG
Set off for the Mekong Delta by private vehicle this morning, which will take up to four hours. Once arriving at the mighty Mekong, check into your delightful riverside boutique hotel. Then board a traditional motor boat and explore the nearby Unicorn Island, where you will take a small rowing boat through an exotic fruit tree plantation and a typical garden in a private home. We love this tour almost as much as we love the Island Lodge.

DAY 5 - LIFE FROM THE RIVERSIDE
This morning’s adventures in the Mekong, which are designed to try and get you off the main tourist trail, will let you discover the local area by boat boat and bicycles. Through coconut plantations, fish farms and small communities, your local guide will show you the very best of the Mekong. Choose from 6 km, 8 km or 13km and discuss difficulty levels before setting off – there is something for everyone! Return to the lodge.

DAY 6 - KICK BACK ON A TROPICAL ISLAND
This morning you will take a short 45-minute flight to the tropical island of Phu Quoc. The long sandy beach of appropriately named Long Beach on the island is one of the finest in Vietnam and you are in a wonderful position at Cassia Cottages – not too busy but lots of lovely little restaurants on the beach that are lit by lanterns and candles at night. It is the perfect to unwind and spend the last few days of your holiday (modern premium room).

DAYS 7- 10 - RELAXING ON THE BEACH
Enjoy four full days at the beach relaxing and soaking up the sea, salt and sand. Cassia has a fantastic restaurant so you may not wish to stray too far but there are plenty of other lovely dining options and bars around. You can also explore some of the island’s lesser visited beaches if you wish to explore or head to the island’s bustling capital with its night market.

DAY 11 - BON VOYAGE
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and kiss goodbye to the pretty sands of Phu Quoc. You will be driven back to the island airport for your flight to Ho Chi Minh City, where you can catch your international flight home. Safe travels!
