Land's End to John O'Groats cycle

The ride was physically harder than I expected. Completed it due to lots of positive support and encouragement. The support team were competent, capable and outstanding in extra support. Accommodation was either good or better. Amazing experience.

Discover Adventure. All bookings etc done by email. All question and problems dealt with promptly. On the tour I was surprised ( and delighted) at the standard of the accommodation. Felt very supported and the bike maintenance enroute was often done before needing to ask.

They were knowledgeable and extremely helpful. They carried out the work they did always with a smile and a joke. Which made our experience one whichI'll never forget.

Lands End to John O'Groats by bike. Exhilarating experience for cyclists of all ages - but you need to train!

Lands End to John O'Groats by bicycle started off as being on my friends bucket list and before long he'd talked me into doing it with him. We agreed if we were to get as much fun and enjoyment from it as possible, we'd need to be supported - so pre-booked hotels/B&Bs/hostels, baggage transfers and en-route support and help if required. I asked some clients of mine who did 1 or 2 charity raising events a year by bike, and they recommended ...

I asked some clients of mine who did 1 or 2 charity raising events a year by bike, and they recommended Discover Adventure from Salisbury. I had a look at their website and saw they did around 3 LeJOG trips a year. The event would be 12 days long but the more I spoke to others and researched the amount of preparation required, it was clear I'd need at least 3 months to get fit enough to do the journey justice. DA provided a training schedule which proved invaluable. It gradually builds up the hours spent in the saddle and miles to be cycled, to a point I'd be comfortable to ride for 80 miles + every day for 10 days. I would say that the training element was every bit as important as the ride itself to the accomplishment of the journey itself. Indeed, it helped me change my lifestyle to be more healthy and get fitter. So a 12 day holiday was really 3 months in the making and should carry on for the rest of my life!

Rating for tour operator:

Discover Adventure are highly experienced operators in the field of adventure holidays with excellent preparation methods, guides and support, as well as being there every step of the way when whatever it is you do with them gets under way. The actual support staff are very skilled and experienced in their own right, too/

The DA staff before the trip were first class in providing all the pre-trip information needed and answering any queries promptly. During the trip the DA crew were always supportive throughout the day - ensuring all food/drink matters were organised and all mechanical support provided. There were clear briefings every night so that the following days journey was explained and any questions answered. Overall I felt I was being truly cared for as a customer.

Fantastic experiece made all teh better by first class support team

You dont get a choice regarding routes with a tour operator however I was pleased this tour went through the Wyre Valley and up the West Cast of Scotland before riding up the Great Glen. You dont get a choice regarding routes with a tour operator however I was pleased this tour went through the Wyre Valley and up the West Cast of Scotland before riding up the Great Glen. This was my preferred option. I had to make compromises - the route did not take in Glen Coe or Cheddar Gorge however the advantages of a supported ride quickly became apparent when I suffered two issues (one minor and one major) with my bicycle. We were also, through discussion with the Discover Adventure team able to ride our own route through Cheddar Gorge and on to Bristol to avoid the less attractive roads on the official route. The ride was well organised with slower riders able to leave early and faster ones later, everyone was able therefore to ride at their own pace. DA provided feed stops on route with a good selection of snacks (they asked if we had particular desires which they tried to accomodate if possible) and water in morning and afternoon and at lunch a munificent buffet which usually inluded a hot meal option of soup or pasta - very welcome. Accomodation was a mixture of budget and small hotels, the odd fancy hotel and a hostel one night. All were perfect for the ride. The goup ate together and were very socialable, after a few days we bonded and the riding and the evenings were equally good. We were blessed with erfect weather however the DA crew were equipped for any eventuality and dealt with the odd incident professionally and calmly. All in all hghly recommended!

Rating for tour operator:

I booked my Lands End John O'Groats (LEJoG) experience through Discover Adventure (DA) after a great deal of research and comparison. There are a lot of operators out there but I settled on DA because they supported my preferred route and provided significantly more for you money than any of the alternative operators out there. Originally I was planning on riding self supported however DA provided van support, feedstations, all meals, luggage transfers and booked all the accommodation for only a few hundred pounds more than I could do it myself - great value! I had very high expectations from the trip and DA did not disappoint, the logistical support was first class and the organisation was superb.

This was advertised as a tough challenge and will certainly agree that this was. However, this journey was amazing and the experience, adventure and images from the tour will stay with me forever. The tour leadership team were outstanding, experienced and well organised and I felt safe in their leadership. A truly great trip

Lands End to John O'Groats

Obviously a cycle ride from one end of Britain to the other over 12 days. The weather was pretty poor for the time of year particularly in Scotland which at times made the cycling less pleasurable than it could have been. The route and scenery was very varied and physically quite tough but overall great fun.

The Discover Adventure support crew were brilliant at keeping morale up, helping and encouraging the riders and sorting the multiple problems that cropped up with the bikes along the way. They could not have done more to make everyone's experience the best it could be for them.
