Enjoyable walking holiday

I walked the Dales High Way in six days from Saltaire to Appleby, some 95 miles, taking in some wonderful landscapes in the Yorkshire Dales en route. The weather was kind too which was a pleasant surprise, given how poor it had been prior to my departure.

My accommodation and baggage transfer were sorted our very effectively by Mickledore. I have used them several times in the past and they were as competent and helpful this time as they had been on previous holidays. I can strongly recommend them.

A delightful walk through the towns and moors of the Yorkshire Dales

A friend and I took a wonderful walking holiday over 4 days from Saltaire to Settle in Yorkshire. The trip started in the amazing world heritage site town of Saltaire, names after Sir Titus Salt who built a textile mile and village on the River Aire. He built houses, schools and hospitals for his workers and even provided pensions for those who were injured. The trip started in the amazing world heritage site town of Saltaire, names after Sir Titus Salt who built a textile mile and village on the River Aire. He built houses, schools and hospitals for his workers and even provided pensions for those who were injured. From here we climbed over the famous Ilkley Moor to spend the evening in the quite bougie town of the same name. We were delightful to find new and fresh places to eat, drink and buy a nice piece of jewelry. Day 2 walking and Skipton was our next destination. After 11 miles of walking we were grateful to stumble into the town on market day and then to be greeted with a glass of sherry at our accommodation. How whimsical. Day 3 took us over Flasby Moor to Hetton where we enjoyed a refreshing cup of tea and then on to Malham for our accommodation in the Lister Arms and the best pie I think I've eaten in years! Day 4 was a little damp as we climbed to the magnificent Malham Cove but at least we had it to ourselves and the views we could see were magnificent. We ended our trip on the beautiful town of Settle.

Mickledore Walking Holidays are simply brilliant. I have used them for 2 walking holidays now and I cannot find fault with a single thing. There communication is timely, supportive and informative. There prices very reasonable. They are professional and courteous and seem to have thought of everything. I have already recommended them to many friends, family and acquaintances.

The Dales Way - June 2023

80 miles, seven days walking among some of Britain's most beautiful scenery. The transfer of luggage every day between the pubs and B&Bs meant we only needed to carry day packs. All the accommodation was very good and the hosts welcoming. The supply of maps and guidebooks help us find our way as well as providing interesting information about some of the sights we passed on our way.
