Bangkok to Chiang Mai Overland Overview
An amazing 5-day tour from the modern city of Bangkok where you will see grand temples and monks to historic Thai capital of Ayutthaya and all of its historical ruins then, marvel at the cultural highlights of Sukhothai. An amazing 5-day tour from the modern city of Bangkok where you will see grand temples and monks to historic Thai capital of Ayutthaya and all of its historical ruins then, marvel at the cultural highlights of Sukhothai. Also interesting is the town of Phitsanulok where many of the Buddha statues in Thailand are moulded, sculptured and painted. Head up north to Chiang Mai for natural scenery, temples, and elephants.
Day 1: Bangkok - Ayutthaya - Lopburi – Phitsanulok
Depart Bangkok by minibus north to the ruins of Ayutthaya, an ancient capital of Thailand. Proceed to Saraburi to visit Phra Buddha Badh, the shrine with the holy footprint of Lord Buddha. After lunch in Lopburi continue northwards to Phitsanulok for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Phitsanulok - Sukhothai – Lampang
After breakfast visit the famous Wat Phra Sriratana Mahathat before proceeding to Sukhothai. Visit Wat Mahathai and the Wat Phasri National Museum. Following lunch continue onwards to the northern outpost towns of Srisatchanalai and Lampang for overnight.
Day 3: Lampang - Lampoon - Chiang Mai
After breakfast visit Wat Phrathat Lampang Luang, one of the north’s finest temples. Proceed to Lampoon for lunch and to visit Wat Haripoonchai and a White Karen Village before arrival into Chiang Mai for overnight.
Day 4: Chiang Mai Touring
Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning visit an elephant camp to see how elephants work and take an optional elephant ride. Visit the Orchid & Butterfly Farm and the handicraft villages at San Kampaeng. Overnight.
Day 5 Departure
Departure or proceed to Mae Hong Son or Chiang Rai & Golden Triangle, or extend your stay in Chiang Mai.
