An Early Spring Spanish Ramble

Four of us (brother/sister and spouses) in our early 70s teamed up to walk though a classic Mediterranean landscape, from the mountains to the sea. We stayed in a variety of domiciles, from tiny village inns to a 13th century structure, now modern hotel seaside in Denia. We walked in forested valleys and along mountain ridges, each unique day providing conversations with locals and good food. It was an incredible way to immerse ourselves into ...

This was our 16th trip with On Foot Holidays, starting in Fall 2022. Obviously, we find their operations very professional and personal, so we wholeheartedly keep coming back. Their website is easy to peruse, their communications second to none, their innkeepers all sing their praises, and our lives have never been better since our first On Foot Holliday walk.

A self-guided walking holiday in the Marina Alta, south-east Spain.

This was a six-day walking holiday, starting in Castell de Castells and finishing in Denia, We also had an extra day in Denia after completing the walk to visit the castle, to spend some time on the beach and to sample some of the excellent restaurants and tapas bars in the town. This was our ninth trip with On Foot Holidays, and as always everything was dealt with very efficiently and promptly from our initial booking enquiry onwards. The walks were lovely, the accommodation arranged was excellent and the private transfers to and from Valencia airport and our various luggage transfers during the walk all went seamlessly. We used On Foot Holidays Companion App on the walk, which worked perfectly, and with the GPS tracking gave us the reassurance that we wouldn't stray off the path. On Foot's local contact was also proactive in keeping in touch with us a few times throughout the walk to make sure that all was going well. On Foot have an excellent working relationship with their local contacts and accommodation providers, which in turn reflects on how smoothly everything goes during the holiday. The fact that we've done so many trips with On Foot speaks volumes about how highly we rate them, and we will certainly be booking another holiday with them over the coming months.

Self-guided long-distance walking in Spain's Marina Alta

This holiday provided six full days of walking in the hinterland of the Costa Brava. The trail started in rugged mountains and passed through agricultural land and charming villages en route to the flat coastal plain approaching Dénia. A couple of days offered optional routes, giving one a choice of distance and cumulative ascent. The trail was generally easy underfoot, with a mixture of open scrubland, forested paths, and a few short sections ...

This was our third walk with On Foot Holidays, and we have a fourth walk booked with them for later this year. Office staff are knowledgeable, responsive, and professional. We have complete confidence in their ability to organize and support an enjoyable and rewarding walk, and we know they will choose comfortable accommodations along the way. Their turn-by-turn walking instructions are excellent and their companion app is easy to use. One other thing that we value with On Foot: they have a local representative for each walk. We have found them easy to contact, quick to respond, and very helpful in situations such as rail disruptions or adverse weather.

Marina Alta walking tour

Walking the hills/trails of southeast Spain. Really interesting geography. This was a walking trip from one town to the next and we had great accommodations throughout.

We had great advice and quick responses to all of our questions from "On Foot". This was our first walking vacation and we had a really nice experience. The accomodations were top notch and the walking trails and sights were superb.

Beautiful scenery and perfect weather, quite tough walking but rewarding views and sense of achievement. Excellent organisation - all arrangements spot on. Good to have a route manager available if anything should go wrong. Accommodation all good - wine and food great! Met lovely people.

Marina Alta walking holiday with On Foot Holidays

A six day walking trip in the Marina Alta region of Spain inland between Valencia and Alicante. Walking about 15 km per day (average 5 to 7 hours of walking) in beautiful mountainous area. Very friendly and welcoming hosts in small villages along the way. The maps and the App provided by On Foot are top class and the local rep was extremely responsive to any questions.

Another great walk

On Foot have developed another great walk in the Marina Alta hills behind the Costa Blanca. As always the booking & admin was straightforward and the new App which includes the maps and walking instructions as well as details on the places visited and hotels is both easy to use, well designed and very comprehensive and of course this saves a lot of paper. Rating for tour operator:

We have used two other companies for walking holidays in the past but in recent years have walked five or six times with On Foot and would not now travel with anyone else. They have developed walks with a sense of purpose and challenge and always seem to have found the best small hotels and some great food. The App - walk notes always work and there is always useful local support a phone call away.
