Salalah is an all in one destination that offers visitors a wide range of activities and excursions in varying landscapes including the legendary Desert Rub Al Khali (The Empty Quarter), the world’s largest Sand Desert with spectacular dunes, enchanting Qara Mountains, sub-tropical coastline with coconut and banana plantations and glorious pristine white sandy beaches.

Touring style: Private basis with English speaking guide and driver

Best time to visit: during the winter months from October to March when the weather is warm and cool. Avoid the hot summer months between June and August.

Day 1: Arrival into Salalah

Arrive into Salalah for a private transfer to your hotel.

Day 2: East and West Salalah tour

EAST AND WEST SALALAH TOUR

The excursion trip begins in the morning with a visit to the old fishing village of “Taqah”, famous for the manufacture of dried Sardines & its traditional and old dhofari houses. Here you will see some old houses elegant in their looks and visit the Taqa Castle before proceeding to Samhuram. Samhuram is a famous port from where the frankincense trade used to take place. Excavations here have found coins and manuscripts in Arabic. You will see the remains of Queen Sheba's Palace on top of a small hill overlooking the Khor Rawri. The drive along the coastal road takes you to the old city of Mirbat where the Arabian Horses and slaves trade used to take place. You will see as well the Mirbat Castle overlooking the sea. A walk into the town shows you some old and beautiful merchant houses with carved doors and windows.

Return to Salalah. En-route stop at the beautiful garden of Ain Arzat from where the Royal Farm is still supplied with water.

A tour of West Salalah visiting Job's tomb also known as the Mosque & Tomb shrine of " Nabi-Ayoub" marks the place where the remains of the Moslem Prophet possibly identified as Job of Old Testament are enshrined. Drive on to Mughsail Beach, which stretches for four km with high cliffs on either side. You can also see the blowholes, which are worn into slabs, and during high tides you see the water bursting out of these holes. Khor Mughsail has an abundance of bird life in the season for e.g. flamingos, pelicans, storks etc. The tour ends with a visit to the Frankincense tree known as the "Holy Incense". Overnight at the hotel.

Day 3: Salalah City tour

Proceed for a city tour of Salalah. This tour will give you a variety of the old and modern culture of the region. Visit the footprints of Prophet Saleh’s Camel and the tomb of Nabi Omran. Proceed to the Heritage souq where you can find different types of Omani crafts and incense burners. A visit to the new souq will give you an exact view of the Arabian market. Drive to the Gold Souq that offers modern and old style Dhofari ornaments. On the way to Al Hafa, you can see some typical Dhofari houses with carved windows and doors. Walking by the sultan’s presidential palace Al Husn, you reach the old souq where the Frankincense, Dhofari traditional clothes, and cosmetics are available. Before returning to the hotel visit the ancient city of Zafar.
