Touring style: Private basis with English speaking guide / experienced driver

Best time to visit: The ideal times to overnight in the desert is during the months of March to May and Nov to December. The weather will be chilly from December to February and warm clothing will be required. The summer months from Jun to September will be extremely hot.

A word of caution: This trip involves walking over an uneven and inclined ground and may not be suitable for those with limited mobility.

Day 1: Salalah to Rub AL Khali

Your guide/driver will meet you at your Salalah hotel. Leave for your overnight adventure in the Arabian desert. Head west on a tarmac road crossing the huge gravel desert of ‚Al Nejd‘. On arrival at the Shisr sand desert, you will have an opportunity to try your skills at Dune Bashing with the guidance of your experienced driver.

Stop to admire the sunset over the sand dunes before reaching the campsite. This evening, enjoy a barbeque under the stars. Camel rides can be arranged on the spot for those who would like to book locally.

Overnight at the Camp.

Day 2: Rub AL Khali to Salalah

Leave after breakfast for the ‘Lost City of Ubar’ (UNESCO World heritage site). According to legend, the desert swallowed up the entire city of and became the fabled "Atlantis of the Sands.“ Visit the ‘Wadi ‘Dawka’ (UNESCO World heritage site) known as the ‚Frankincense Wadi’ before returning to your hotel in Salalah.
