    The remote kingdom of Mustang lies in the rain shadow of the Himalaya creating a remarkable desert-like landscape of eroded canyons, dramatic cliff faces, multi-hued rock formations and distant snow-capped peaks. Isolated from the outside world for centuries, it has its own distinct culture and fascinating history evident in the ancient walled city of Lo-manthang and the crumbling monasteries and cave dwellings that dot the surrounding cliffs.
