Lamjung Himal camping trek, Nepal
Excellent from start to finish - from the initial calls with Roland to determine the right trek to book, through to the superb trek leaders, cooks and porters whilst on the trek. Not seeing any other trekking groups was a special feature of this camping trek. We had clear weather and some excellent views. Strongly recommended, this trip exceeded my expectations.

I can not fault the mountain company who organised the trek, both for the quality of the guides and porters and the company’s approach to looking after the welfare of people they employ

Lamjung Himal Trek
This was a 9 day camping trek on a pilgrimage route with continuous mountain views and a wilderness feel with no other trekking groups encountered. Fantastic support from the guiding team and miracles from the chef and kitchen crew, ably backed up by the team of porters. Great hotel stays in Kathmandu before and after the trek and 2 very welcome nights in Pokhara for hot showers and beers

Very professional set up but also very personal: excellent initial phone call to discuss suitability of treks and backed up by very comprehensive pre-trip information. All queries answered promptly. Excellent local team in Nepal

Lamjung Himal trek in Nepal
A 14 night stay in Nepal, including a 9 day camping trek up to a high point of 4385m. A large team of guides, cooks and porters made the camping a first class experience

Fantastic support from the first call to Roland Hunter (owner of TMC) to the final transport to the airport. The whole trip, including nights in 4* hotels in Kathmandu and Pokhara, consistently exceeded my expectations of what a trekking holiday would be like.

Amazing trek in the Lamjung Himal
We did a 8 day camping trek in the Lamjung Himal region with The Mountain Company (TMC). This was our third trek with TMC, and we would not hesitate to book with them again. The pre trip information is fantastic, and the owner of the company, Roland Hunter, is always available to answer any questions and provide helpful guidance. The pre trip information is fantastic, and the owner of the company, Roland Hunter, is always available to answer any questions and provide helpful guidance. He is in Kathmandu throughout the trekking season and always gives an in-person pre-trek briefing, which is a really nice touch. He also welcomed us to his UK head office prior to departure to answer some questions that we had. The trek itself was great, with a fantastic crew and a truly incredible guide in Dorji Tamang. Really kind, really friendly, really knowledgeable, and in someone whom we had complete trust. He simply could not do enough for us. The views of the Annapurnas towards the end of the trek were simply incredible, and made up for some of the bad weather we had on route up to the higher elevations.

TMC are simply fantastic in all respects. There is so much helpful information on their website, and the MD Roland Hunter as an experienced trekker and climber is able to answer any questions in advance, and during the trek. I don't think he ever sleeps, as it doesn't seem to matter what time you send a message, a detailed response is generally received within an hour or two. The organisation of the treks is second to none, and I am confident that trekkers with TMC get looked after much better than those travelling with other companies. It's the little touches like providing hand sanitiser on the dining table as soon as you sit down to eat that sets them apart from other companies.

Challenging treck with stunning views.
If you are an experienced trekker and want to do something well off the normal Himalaya routes, this could be the trek for you. Yes its tough at times, long ascents on some undefined terrain, bouldering in places and camping at over 3800 in freezing conditions. We encountered days of sunshine, days of trekking in rolling mist / cloud, a prolonged hail storm and an afternoon of snow accompanied by thunder and lightning….but that’s the mountains...

We encountered days of sunshine, days of trekking in rolling mist / cloud, a prolonged hail storm and an afternoon of snow accompanied by thunder and lightning….but that’s the mountains. We were supported by an excellent team of 2 guides, 4 kitchen staff and 8 porters, all were very supportive. We did not see any other trekking groups throughout and after day 3 we did not see anyone outside of our group until the end of the trek. For a few day’s the views of the Annapurna mountains were restricted to early morning and gaps in the rolling cloud, but the last couple of days we were rewarded with uninterrupted stunning views. The trek is a challenge but also an opportunity to leave the western world behind for a few days and enjoy a more basic lifestyle in stunning surroundings.

The Mountain Company have a very informative website and provide plenty of pre- tour information. Roland (the CEO) will always answer any questions, normally with first hand knowledge of the issue. As a very experienced mountaineer he will answer with honesty, not glossing over any hardships. Basing himself in Kathmandu during the normal trekking seasons he will try & meet most groups prior too & after their trek to answer last minute questions/ concerns and also to gather first hand feedback.
Thanks, Andy, for your comprehensive feedback on the trek. As you rightly mentioned your trek was quite challenging as the guide decided to take you on the longer circuit rather than the more moderate trek that we intended you to go on. In the future, we will make sure the guides stick to the itinerary per our website as this should be a trek that is suitable for most relatively fit walkers. Very few, if any, other trekkers follow this route even in peak season so it is a great opportunity to get away from the busier trails at similar grade such as Annapurna Base Camp and Ama Dablam Base Camp (in the Everest region). Please do get in touch with us if you need any further information on what to expect and pre trek training required.
Thanks, Andy!

Lamjung Himal
The remoteness, the amazing view of the mountain ranges in the Annapurna region, and interacting with local villagers made this an amazing trek. There were a few long days with lots of ups and downs. The crew was very supportive. No matter your trekking pace, no one was ever left on their own. You were encouraged to take your time and enjoy the experience and beautiful surroundings.

Roland, Managing Director, always responds to questions right away. He seeks feedback from clients and crew after each trek to see if any improvement is required. Safety and well-being of the crew and trekking clients are top priority for him. Local crew is provided with the necessary equipment (clothing, footwear) and ensure they do not carry excess weight. This is my sixth treks with The Mountain Company. I have the same positive experience each time from Roland and the crew. This is why I plan to do more trekking with The Mountain Company and no hesitation in recommending them.

Fantastic slice of off-the-beaten-path Nepal
We packed a lot into this shorter (by Nepalese trek standards) trip. We walked through villages, forests, and above the tree line with views of the Annapurna range a constant companion. Be prepared for lots of steps, some long days, and a trail which, while generally very well maintained, grows faint in some spots. (We saw just one other group during our time on the trail!) This was my 4th trek in the Himalayas, and the views were as stunning ...

This was my first trip with the Mountain Company, but won;t be the last. I was impressed by how Roland managed safety concerns (for travelers and local crews) during the height of the pandemic and the precautions taken on this trip. Everything was well-organized and ran without a hitch.

The walking holiday of a lifetime
I was in a small group of 7 people trekking in the Lamjung Himal for 9 days. We were looking for an adventurous trek, off the beaten track. I especially wanted to experience the quiet of the high mountains, nature and wildlife. The trip exceeded my hopes and expectations! Wonderful support and organisation from start to finish. I felt in safe hands from the moment I signed up. Excellent follow up and a personal meeting with the tour operator Roland to hear our feedback in detail. I cannot recommend them too highly. We wanted a trip off the beaten track and we got it. Roland has an excellent understanding of the hopes, dreams and needs of his clients!
