First class support from The Mountain Company for our Everest High Passes trek during October 2022

The pre trip information was detailed and thorough. We had a valuable pre trek and post trek discussion when all our questions were dealt with. The guides and porters provided excellent support and they were cheerful companions throughout the journey. The itinerary allowed time for careful acclimatisation and the trekking days were planned to achieve the objectives in a sufficiently demanding but enjoyable way.

Fantastic trek in Nepal

The Everest High Passes Trek arranged by The Mountain Company. Stunning views and wonderful experience in the mountains. I loved the challenge of the passes on a well planned itinerary. Stayed in very friendly and well managed Teahouses and Lodges. Loved those mountains

A trek that met all hopes and more

Despite the demands of the flights, we were repeatedly reassured by the organising in place. We had outings and acclimatisation that stood us in good stead for the trekking. I was pleasantly amazed at what I saw, felt and was able to achieve. All delivered by people who were good to be with.

All aspects of preparation and activity were well done. We were well instructed and briefed by Roland and queries were rapidly addressed. Physical challenges of the trek were well anticipated. I felt that nothing lacked for consideration, energy and initiative. Really nice, capable people.

An amazing trek in the Everest high passes and insight into another culture

We, a group of 6 friends and hikers in the UK, planned a trek from Lukla to Gokyo Ri and return via Renjo La with sightseeing in Kathmandu at the start and end, The Mountain Company and Roland Hunter put our hopes into a reality producing a fantastic experience with 16 days trekking and 5 days in Kathmandu. We were met at the airport and taken to our hotel in Kathmandu, which did not disappoint, had a briefing with Roland, an information pack and advice about the area and money changing. A 'sightseeing' day in Kathmandu was very good with excellent transport, driver and a very informative guide. The trek was tailored to allow time for acclimatisation and to enjoy the scenery and photographs. The 3 guides were helpful, well informed and knowledgeable about the route, area and culture and kept to a pace for our comfort, we were also supported by 3 excellent porters. The numbers clearly allowed for any eventualities that may have occurred and a safe trek. The Tea Houses we stayed in were of a good standard both for sleeping and eating. On returning to our hotel in Kathmandu we had another great tour of a different area and also more advice about other sights and places we may consider. Then transport to the airport for our departure. All of our group agreed we could not have had a better first experience to Nepal.

Rating for tour operator:

The Mountain Company and Roland Hunter provided an excellent, memorable and enjoyable experience and I cannot rate them high enough. Their website has all the information you need regarding what to expect, kit required, entry requirements and how to fill the forms in, everything was covered, any other questions emailed were always answered within a day and usually an hour or so, but the information was often on their website, we were kept updated about the changing entry requirements with regard to Covid. Whilst on the trek the guides carried a satellite phone for safety and our condition was monitored every evening. On the trek and in Kathmandu there was always the option to contact them for help, advice, form filling and ticket printing for our return with a de-brief at the end for our thoughts.

Everest high passes in Nepal

Three week high altitude trekking holiday in Nepal. A couple of days sightseeing in Kathmandu at either end. Flights to and from Lukla. Trekking up to Gokyo. Climbing Gokyo Ri. Return over the Renjo La pass and down the next valley to the west to make a loop of the trek.

The Mountain Company produced a very professionally organised trek plan which matched our wishes exactly. The organisation was smooth and efficient, sorting out all those little holiday problems with zero fuss. The guides were very friendly and very professional in their conduct. An amazing and very challenging experience superbly managed.

Amazing, Awesome, Fantastic, Stupendous...I cannot think of any more superlatives!

The holiday was everything I expected and more. The bustling madness that is Kathmandu has a unique charm all of its own, and the days spent sightseeing before and after the trek was interesting, thought-provoking, and very special. The main purpose of the holiday, of course, was the trek to Gokyo RI... the Lukla flight and particularly the landing, with the harsh mountainous landscape and the short steep runway was definitely memorable, however, the trails were quiet, there was fantastic camaraderie amongst trekkers and the accommodation in the main exceeded my expectations. There were times when I got quite emotional enjoying the views that I had previously only experienced as pictures in books. This was a holiday that I will remember forever.

This is an amazing caring company.... that did everything they could to make sure we had the best of times! The guides and porters were all lovely people who showed us the utmost care, and consideration....they watched us carefully on the trek and were always aware if someone needed that bit of extra encouragement and support. Unfortunately, I was taken ill during the trek and the director personally contacted my insurance company, arranged a helicopter evacuation, and was at the hospital to meet me. Thank You so much.
