Absolute Dream Annapurna Basecamp Trek

Absolutely wonderful experience with a great couple of guides who were really friendly and inclusive. The trekking wasn't too challenging and the weather was perfect.

KE were wonderful from the point of booking my trip, the UK agents were incredibly helpful when I had travel disruptions and the guides in Nepal were very friendly and knowledgeable. They did everything they could to ensure that we had a great trek.

Step up to walk in the beatiful Himalaya

We walked along the rhododendron trails over suspension bridges by teahouses and upwards to visit the high Himalaya peaks. We enjoyed being with the welcoming Nepalese people.

This trek is a two week holiday starting and finishing in bustling Kathmandu. The trek commences after a flight to Pokhara and incorporates such varied scenery along the way, it is hard to describe. From lakeside Pokhara you travel via terraces, stepped paths towards the famous Annapurna Sanctuary.Gaining glimpses of Annapurna and Macchupare from early through the journey, these mountains get closer and closer until you get close to the base of them at the Sanctuary. From sunrise at Poon Hill to sunset in the Sanctuary this holiday really provides a variety of experiences for trekkers. The scenery is absolutely beautiful throughout the trek. You pass through villages, farms and small communities as well as being out in the remoteness of the sanctuary. We particularly enjoyed the time in the agricultural area which was very interesting. It is not too demanding (although you need to be able to walk continuously with some fair ascents and descents for 9 days). Some days are longer than others but all are very rewarding. The accommodation along the way is basic and varies somewhat. However the views from the Tea houses where you stay are almost always spectacular).Be prepared to share facilities and make sure that you have water bottles for cleaning teeth and antibacterial gels for keeping your hands clean. Along with common sense, this helps avoid the bugs. The food on this tour was excellent, at times, fuel rather than to delight the palate - you never went hungry and the Dal Bhat was always a welcome sight. You'll need a four season sleeping bag and to pack for a variety of temperatures as it is much warmer at the start of the trek than expected. You do not see cars or any vehicles for around 9 days which is magical and at the end of the trek it is quite a shock to head back on the roads again. Our tour was well managed by a great crew of a tour leader (Dorje), Sherpa and Porters. Everyone was friendly and made sure that the trip ran smoothly. The Nepalese people are a delight to be around and are friendly and kind to travellers. This was a first longer trek for us having spent weeks in mountain resorts and walking from that same area. We absolutely loved the tour, it was well balanced with time either side of the trek to enjoy Kathmandu and Pokhara and cannot recommend Dorje and KE Adventures enough. The KE website and their tour dossier for this trip was very accurate and provides a very good aide-memoir to planning a trip.

Rating for tour operator:

KE adventures took our booking at very short notice and handled all aspects of the trip efficiently. Their website and tour notes are excellent and indeed very accurate. Their local agents and guides made for a memorable, well run trek. With a habit for spotting shortcomings, there were none to spot and the quality of the operation of our trek was fantastic.

Trek through the local villages of the Annapurna region to Annapurna Base Camp. What an awesome experience of the culture, nature and local people of Nepal. Trekking to see the mountain giants up close and personal was a trip of a lifetime. The local people are adorable and scenery of the Nepalese Himalaya is breathtaking. This was a well paced and interesting trip taking into account time for acclimatisation for the altitude and included chance to see sunrise over the mountains of the Annapurna. We had chance to experience the local food, drink and culture (including local Buddhist temples and memorial stoupas). Given the earthquake in 2015 I felt proud to be able to support the local people in a small way to continue to recover from the devastation/ aftermath.

Rating for tour operator:

KE are a well organised, professional company who provide substantial pre-tour information and advice. Their support during the trip through their trip partners and also from the UK when required if the unpredictable (sickness during the trek) happens is second to none. I would definitely recommend KE and will be travelling with them again in the future.
