Morocco: Marrakech Riad & Kasbah Traveller Reviews

We booked a one week holiday through Discover UK for a family of four. The week was split as four nights at the Kasbah du Toukbal near Imlil in the Atlas Mountains and three nights in Marrakech, staying at the Riad Siwan. Both accommodation venues were fantastic, amazing staff and brilliantly located. The Kasbah du Toukbal has incredible views into the valley and towards Mount Toukbal itself and stood in the pool looking out into the valley is one of the most incredible views from a pool you could wish for. Numerous guided walks are available in the area and we reached out on our own for one short circular walk up to Aroumd and back to Imlil. Numerous friendly locals along the way helped with any uncertainties over directions to take and generally everyone we met was extremely friendly and helpful. In Marrakech whilst our Riad was changed in advance of our stay to the Riad Siwan, in hindsight we were very pleased it was as in our personal view the location is better. Whilst we did not see inside the Riad Les Yes Bleux (which is under refurbishment) the Riad Siwan was luxurious to stay in, immaculately furnished and with amazing host and staff. The Riad leads directly onto one of the main streets and is within 10 mins of Jamaal el-Fnaa square. Our porters and drivers at each venue were also excellent.

Both before and during the holiday the Discovery team were extremely helpful in answering any queries we had and in also arranging transport to our onward destination of Agadir. Everything ran smoothly with excellent transport arranged between the airport and Imlil and again between Imlil and Marrakech.

This is a really hard review to write because it was a lovely holiday and every single person who was with us, were not only some of the nicest and most professional we've encountered but also the kindest and most hospitable. It made for a great trip. We extended our days in Imlil because we enjoyed the hiking. And if you're like us, this is something to consider. We bumped into another couple and we agreed that each trail comes with a different landscape so you're never bored. Marrakech is nice but we personally found it a little overwhelming with the noise and hustle/bustle but we were also given great recommendations by the Discover team so it ended up being quite fun.

This was booked pre-Covid. Despite the borders opening up etc, we were only able to travel in 2023 due to various personal commitments. And then there was the unfortunate earthquake. We almost gave up on the idea! But the Discover team are wonderful. They helped us find a suitable travel window and it happened. They are a very professional team - responses were timely and full of detailed information. Very reassuring - they even went out of their way to help with additional facilitate bookings / appointments which made our stay in Morocco great. But what truly made the entire experience quite special was he warmth and the hospitality of the team - from the day we booked our trip to the day we left. I can't recommend them enough.

We had an enjoyable, peaceful, few days in the Atlas mountains staying at the Kasbah du Toubkal. The Kasbah is an experience in itself and provided the perfect base to enjoy the area and do some local walks. We then stayed at a small, comfortable riad in Marrakech close to the Medina but secluded enough to escape the hectic city.

Discover Limited arranged all accommodation and transfers within Morocco dovetailed in with our own flight arrangements. They also provided a very personal service giving us all the necessary information and tips to maximise our enjoyment of this trip. An excellent service throughout.

We were based at the Kasbah du Toubkal and had 4 days walking from the base. The transfers all worked well and the base were flexible in changing the walking plans because of unseasonal weather. The guide was excellent and we felt very safe with him - including a crampon ascent of Toubkal starting at 5.30 am in total darkness (except for head torches)
