17 May 2016 - St. Kitts will host the destination’s first ever Barmy Army golf tournament this summer thanks to a unique partnership with the UK’s legendary Barmy Army and A Golfing Experience

London, UK, 17 May, 2016: St. Kitts will host the destination’s first ever Barmy Army golf tournament this summer thanks to a unique partnership with the UK’s legendary Barmy Army and Golf Tour Specialists, A Golfing Experience.

During a much anticipated Golf and Cricket Week, planned for July 2 to 9, 2016, Barmy Army members will have the opportunity to play against teams at the Royal St. Kitts Golf Club and Four Seasons Nevis while also enjoying the vibe and excitement of St. Kitts hosted matches of the annual Caribbean Premier League T20 Cricket, thanks to the special partnership between Barmy Army and CPL.
To ensure its success, a project team representing Paul Burnham from the Barmy Army, Steve Frewin from A Golfing Experience and Tom Jaronski, golf tourism consultant to the St. Kitts Tourism Authority, recently concluded a preliminary site tour of the destination. The team spent a significant amount of time reviewing resort properties, venues and facilities participating in the upcoming Barmy Army events, while the visit also served as an excellent opportunity for Mr. Burnham and Mr. Frewin to enjoy the island and experience play on both the St. Kitts and Nevis courses.

Racquel Brown, CEO, St. Kitts Tourism Authority, said “we are delighted to be hosting the UK’s Barmy Army clientele to the destination, part of a long term strategy to capitalise on our existing and new golf product and to secure our place amongst the top golfing destinations. We still have a long way to go but we are confident that the quality of our product will ultimately be our greatest strength.”
As part of an intensive four day itinerary, the Barmy Army team also visited Warner Park Stadium where the matches of the Caribbean Premier League will be one of the major island attractions that Barmy Army supporters are looking forward to.
Barmy Army members will be offered special packages to the Golf and Cricket Week in St. Kitts with participating partners including the Royal St. Kitts Hotel and St. Kitts Marriott Resort in addition to the Royal St. Kitts and Four Seasons golf courses.
The Barmy Army Project Team would like to thank participating partners for their interest in the inaugural Barmy Army Golf and Cricket Week.
