Spring City Breaks

2 Mar 2016 - Spring City Breaks to Athens, Thessaloniki and Larnaka

Spring is in sight - the perfect excuse for a city break to somewhere warm.

City breaks are taking over from beach holidays as the favourite type of holiday for Brits and last year ABTA[i] suggested 43% of people were planning a city break in 2015, and they predict a similar trend this year.

Greece and Cyprus AITO specialist, Planet Holidays (www.planet-holidays.co.uk) is offering three night city breaks to Athens, Thessaloniki and Larnaka with luxury accommodation, flights and transfers.

Athens is one of the must-see capital cities of Europe with its ancient sites including the Acropolis, Parthenon, Agora and Dionysus Theatre. This attractive city is also renowned for its chic bars and cafes, art galleries and trendy restaurants and with the sun virtually guaranteed to shine it’s a great choice for a spring city break.

A three night break staying at the Electra Hotel with return flights from Gatwick and transfers costs from £399 per person.

As Greece’s second city, Thessaloniki is a captivating destination with a plethora of historic sites it is a wonderful mix of old and new, and described as an open-air museum of Byzantine art. It’s also often described as Greece’s hippest city and offers some of the best nightlife in Greece.

A three night break staying at The Excelsior, with flights from Stansted and transfers costs from £399 per person.

Larnaka is the third largest city in Cyprus and for those looking for a novel city break this is just the ticket. The city has a laid back feel with many historic sites and easy access to the beach, plenty of water sports including diving as well as on land sports such as beach volley. Plus visitors can easily access the quieter side of Cyprus visiting mountain villages or walking one of the four nature trails across Larnaka’s mountainous areas. There are wine trails too, as well as museums and art galleries.

A three night break staying at the boutique Lokàl with flights from Luton and transfers costs from £445. This newly opened 17 room boutique hotel is located in the heart of Larnaka's steadily gentrifying old town, about 300m from landmark Aghios Lazarous church and walking distance to the town’s municipal beach, trendy shops, cafes, restaurants and bars.

With the number of scheduled and low cost carriers flying into all three cities, Planet Holidays can combine a stay in all three cities. For a tailor-made quote call 01438 841270.
