Admirals Cup St Kitts & Nevis

21 Feb 2019 - Another successful year for UK golfers in St. Kitts & Nevis Admirals Cup Golf Tournament

London, UK, February 2019: St. Kitts Tourism Authority hosted its ninth annual St. Kitts & Nevis Admirals Cup Golf Tournament, with the UK team coming second place in the overall competition.

The UK team, made up of Warren Harmston (PGA Professional) and Leyton Hardwick (Amateur), from Wentworth Golf Club, came second against competing teams from the USA, Canada, UK and Caribbean regions at the event, which took place from 2 to 7 February.

The team finished second in the Pro-Am division with a score of -30. The competition was won by Team Howell Park GC, from the USA.

The St. Kitts & Nevis Admiral’s Cup Pro-Am is the destination's premier event for visiting golfers. Played annually in early February, the Admiral’s Cup Pro-Am is a five-day team tournament in which a PGA Club Professional and three amateurs pair up to compete against other teams from golf clubs across the globe.

Intoxicating natural beauty, sunny skies, and the surrounding warm waters, and white sandy beaches combine to make St. Kitts & Nevis one of the most seductive golf spots in the Caribbean.

Warren said: “We enjoyed every minute of the competition and were delighted to come second. The breathtaking views both on the course and the islands were the highlights of our trip and we would return in a heartbeat.”

The St. Kitts & Nevis Admiral’s Cup Pro-Am is the only golf event of its kind with tournament rounds contested simultaneously on two different Caribbean islands, the Royal St. Kitts Golf Club in St. Kitts and Robert Trent Jones II at the Four Seasons Resort in Nevis.

In the nine years the event has been running, more than 100 teams and 1,000 total attendees have experienced all the elements St. Kitts and Nevis has to offer as a must-visit golf destination. Beyond the golf rounds, attendees enjoyed downtime on the island – snorkelling in St. Kitts’ crystal clear waters and taking a historical tour of the island.

Minister Lindsay Grant said: “St. Kitts was thrilled to host the golf tournament on island for the ninth year and welcome teams from across the globe. Congratulations to the Wentworth Golf Club team in the UK and to all the golfers for participating.”

Racquel Brown, CEO of St. Kitts Tourism Authority, said: “Congratulations to all this year’s participants, who we hope to welcome back next year. The Royal St. Kitts Golf Club is spectacularly positioned between the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea and we are proud to host the Pro-Am competition each year.”

Those interested in participating in next years event on the 1st-6th February 2020 can sign up now.
