Korea by Rail Overview

Korea by Rail Korailpack is a Rail Pass holiday package including accommodation and tours designed to provide a unique experience of Korea by train. This is an affordable way to travel around the country while getting to see it up close and personal.

Our suggested touring is based on travelling with a professional guide who will help you to navigate the stations and also provide local knowledge of the sites. You may also choose to travel independently without a guide.

Best time to travel: April to Jun and September to November

Travelling style: Private touring or independent

Day 1: Arrival Seoul

On arrival, your guide will be waiting for you for a private transfer to your hotel. alternatively, travel independently by Airport Limousine Bus.

Distance and journey time: 49 km, 1.30 hrs

Day 2: Seoul touring

Meet your guide in the morning for a private tour of Seoul, where old meets new in modern Korea. Seoul is a city of incredible contrasts which, despite its immense size, makes it one of the fascinating cities in the world. It is the heart of Korea’s culture and education as well as politics and economics.

The tour includes Gyeongbokgung Palace (Palace of Shining Happiness) - the main palace during the Joseon Dynasty. Pass by the Blue House (Presidential Residence) and the National Folk Museum of Korea whose collection houses complete items from every region of Korea illustrating all aspects of traditional life. Continue to N Seoul Tower on Mt. Namsan for a bird's eye view of the metropolitan city of Seoul.

In the afternoon visit the Korean Folk Village to see a superb and truly authentic display of Korean history including folk traditions, legends and the lifestyles of the nobility from the 14th-20th century. This evening there will be a dinner with a Korean folklore dance and music performance at Korea House.

Overnight in Seoul.

Day 3: Seoul to Gyeongju

Your guide will collect you from your hotel and transfer to the train station. Depart for Gyeongju by High-speed train. In the afternoon, enjoy a tour of Bulguksa Temple and Seokguram Grotto.

Overnight in Gyeongju.

Day 4: Gyeongju – Andong

After breakfast, depart for a tour of Royal Tumuli Park, the Cheomseongdae Observatory, National Museum and Anapji Pond. Depart for Andong by normal train. Tour Hahoe Folk Village and Hahoe Mask Museum.

Overnight in Andong.

Day 5: Andong to Seoul

A morning tour of Andong. Visit a Korean Traditional paper-making factory and the Dosanseowon Confucian Academy­ founded by Korea's foremost Confucian scholar, Yi Toe-gye during the Joseon Dynasty.

Return to Seoul by train.
