Go Slow... in Kenya's Masai Mara

Go Slow... in Kenya's Masai Mara Overview

Go Slow... in Kenya's Masai Mara from Naturetrek: Go Slow Wildlife Holidays is an exhilarating holiday in Maasai Mara National Reserve (Kenya). Available from 27 Sep 2017 to 16 Jul 2021 this 11 day trip costs from £4,595.00, which includes flights.

The acacia-dotted grasslands of Kenya’s Masai Mara Game Reserve are home to one of our planet’s greatest concentrations of wildlife. Between August and November, 1.2 million Blue Wildebeest crowd the short grass plains, alongside braying herds of Plains Zebras and a variety of gazelles and other large mammals. With such an abundance of prey on offer, it comes as no surprise that the Mara is also one of the best reserves in Africa to enjoy sightings of predators, especially Lion, Cheetah and Leopard. A kaleidoscope of colourful sunbirds, glossy starlings, bee-eaters, rollers and other bird species offers an interesting supporting cast, whilst no visit to the region is complete without time spent in the company of the Masai people themselves. This new 8-day ‘Go Slow’ safari includes a 7- night stay at the small and comfortable Ilkeliani Tented Camp located on the edge of the Masai Mara Game Reserve, and can be extended with relaxation time on the Kenyan Coast. The safari begins with a direct overnight flight to Nairobi and a short connecting flight to the Mara’s small airport (no long and bumpy road transfers!). Each of the following days will then include optional morning and afternoon game-drives in search of the reserve’s abundant mammals and birds, with the opportunity to join a game walk, full-day drives or visit a Masai village should you so wish. This holiday is timed to coincide with the herds of Wildebeest and other game that move into the Masai Mara during the autumn and is expertly guided by a Naturetrek naturalist — who will accompany the group from the UK — and local wildlife guides.
