Fascinating and breath taking: Trekking the summit’s of Mount’s Kenya and Kilimanjaro.

A 15 day trip, organised by KE Adventure Travel (KE), equally spread between Mount Kenya national park (Kenya), and then Mount Kilimanjaro national park (Tanzania). A 15 day trip, organised by KE Adventure Travel (KE), equally spread between Mount Kenya national park (Kenya), and then Mount Kilimanjaro national park (Tanzania). After summiting Mount Kenya our happy group of 3 travellers joined 4 other travellers, who had summited Mt Meru with ‘KE’, to tackle Mount Kilimanjaro. We bonded so well that no one would know it had been 2 separate groups, and everyone summited ‘Kili’. This is a credit to the travellers, guides, and to KE’s hard work. Quality hotel accommodation, including swimming pools, preceded and followed nights camping during the ascent of both mountains. Food while camping was varied and tasty, and the guides and support crew were faultless. Tents were spacious, and water tight (very much needed on some days), and thick foam mattresses were provided. Our health was also closely monitored via daily checks on our pulse and oxygen levels. Kenya national park was more beautiful, especially the lakes and diverse flora, which in many ways made summiting Mt. Kenya more like a point to point trek. Overnight camping at lake Michaelson in particular was stunning. Mount Kilimanjaro’s beauty was more rugged, and this trek felt like a mountain ascent from the start. The guides and the information signs at each Kilimanjaro camp site provided useful info on the climactic zone we were in, and the views of Kilimanjaro’s summit became ever more breathtaking the higher we got. Combining Mt. Kenya and Mt. Kilimanjaro in one trip made the holiday both more interesting ( these mountains are not the same) and more successful, as the first summit really helped preparation for Kilimanjaro. Combining 2 small groups for the Kilimanjaro trek was genius, as each group could share their experiences with the other, renew their enthusiasm in getting to know new travellers, and together support each other in summiting Kilimanjaro.

Rating for tour operator:

This is the first time I used ‘KE Adventure Travel’ but it won’t be the last. The company were helpful from the first day I phoned to ask about this holiday (Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Kenya), and kept me fully and regularly informed thereafter. The holiday information on the website was also very comprehensive and accurate. KE also added an extra night (and breakfast) at the hotel after the Kilimanjaro summit day at no extra cost. I’m very impressed with this company, will definitely use again, and highly recommend to anyone looking for a well organised trekking challenge.

Mt Kenya and Mt Kilimanjaro Trekking Holiday

A unique, exhilarating and exhausting 6 day trekking and tenting holiday to beautiful and much less travelled Mt Kenya, starting and returning from Nairobi, before travelling by company mini-bus to Arusha, for the start of our 7 day trek to the top of Tanzania's Mt Kilimanjaro - the world's highest mountain trek! KE's organisation, their local Trek Leaders and support crew, the excellent catering and the quality camping equipment made for an unforgettable experience for our small group of seven Aussie Dad's and daughters, and their indisputable knowledge of acclimatisation principles ensured that we all successfully 'summited' this extremely challenging peak, to enjoy the best views in all of Africa! A wonderfully different and memorable experience!

Rating for tour operator:

KE Adventure Travel is a UK based tour operator, with a reputation for providing well organised and well supported adventure travel experiences around the world. We had researched them extensively through the adventure travel media and awards recognition arenas before booking an Everest trek with them a few years ago. We are a group of Australian friends living in Sydney, and all information and bookings were handled online. It was such a positive experience, and such a superior one to many of the other competing Everest tour operators, that we went straight to KE for our African adventure which we completed in August 2013. And it was terrific. They use local agents, and local support crews who are knowledgeable, engaged and provide a very culturally enriched trekking experience. Every aspect of the trek is meticulously organised, camping equipment is first class and the catering ensures that you have the energy, strength and good humour to complete the challenge!
