India by Fleewinter

India is one of the most exciting, diverse and culturally vibrant countries in the world. Take a deep breath and decide where to plunge in; the unforgettable Taj Mahal, the pink city of Jaipur, the breath-taking beauty of the tea plantations, the serene waterways of Kerala, or even India's secret tropical islands, the Andamans.

Normally when Fleewinter launches a new destination it is with one specialist, but for India we have Jessie Green and Jenna Kearns to guide you through the best choices and work out the perfect itinerary for your visit. Both are experienced travellers in India and experts at creating tailor-made trips for their clients.

Jenna's Favourite Place:

Munnar left such a strong impression on me, that I always encourage people to experience it for themselves. The town itself is located within inland Kerala and has a lovely feel about it. However, it is the surrounding tea and spice plantations, mountains and valleys, that make it so special.

It is easy to think of the bustling towns and cities when coming to India, but the countryside is just as amazing. With a vast selection of isolated properties that all focus on being in tune with their natural surroundings, you can find a perfect base to enjoy short or long walks. Here you can take in the exotic species of fauna, flora and wildlife amidst the spice-scented cool air.

A highlight for me is the mystical Jaisalmer, the Golden City rising out of the sands of the Thar Desert. Less famous than the neighbouring Golden Triangle, but no less impressive.

Within the thick walls of Jaisalmer’s Fort lies a maze of narrow streets which have remained unchanged for centuries. Elaborately carved doorways, the cries of hawkers echoing around the alleyways, and colourful fabrics hanging against the honey sandstone, make this an incredibly atmospheric city. Riding a camel back into the sand dunes and spending an evening under the stars, is magical and an absolute must when visiting Jaisalmer.

What they say about the program:

We want to allow you to get under the skin of India, through carefully planned experiences. People often think about the country as an overwhelming mix of sights, smells, sounds and mayhem. This is completely true (of the cities) and that is why we love it.   But beneath the chaotic surface of the country, there is more beauty and serenity than you can imagine. Not to mention some of the best food in the world and the kindest, most gentle people, who will warmly welcome you into their culture and unique way of life.

India boasts some of the most tranquil landscapes, which are juxtaposed by the colourful and frenetic city life. Whether you are after complete relaxation or a diverse cultural experience (or both), we have the tools to tailor-make the perfect trip for you.

It doesn't matter how long the trip is, we can work to your requirements. A combination of city and beach works really well, making Mumbai and Kerala a lovely pairing. Or, explore the beauty of the north where you can journey through the Golden Triangle and Rajasthan, with the hope of spotting an elusive tiger!

If notions of India evoke your more spiritual side, then you should add a trip out to the Andaman Islands. This really is off the beaten track and offers its visitors the opportunity to truly switch off from the stresses and distractions of modern life. Think seclusion, retreats, yoga, music and meditation...

The challenge with India is there is so much to see and do, but the good news is that it is incredibly good value and we are happy to work within any budget.  You can start with a week’s tour of the Golden Triangle as a taster or a relaxing 10 days in Kerala. You can then build this up by adding in a tiger safari or the Andaman Islands for a sample of paradise.
