Climbing in the Alps

KE Adventures provided us with a combination of hiking, mountaineering, scrambling, and rock climbing in the Alps, all based out of the wonderful Yeti lodge in Argentiere, just up the road from Chamonix. The food was superb, the company excellent, and of course the Alps were spectacular.

Ascent of Gran Paradiso and Mont Blanc

A six-day package during which we spent two days climbing Gran Paradiso in Italy followed a day at high altitude on a glacier practicing snow ice and rock techniques before the ascent of Mont Blanc over a total of three days. The logistics and organization of the holiday were excellent in every respect. The staff running our accommodation and the guides which were provided during our time in the mountains were all first class.

KE Adventure Travel. Full marks for their very good website, the booking process, the handling of questions and the execution of the holiday. Their staff at the chalet where we were based in France were some of the friendliest and most helpful people I have ever met.

We booked this climbing trip with KE Adventure following online research and visiting the office in Keswick. Every aspect of the trip met and exceeded our expectations. The trip was well organised with exceptional guides, Klemen Gricar and Rocio Siemens working hard to ensure both the safety and enjoyment of all participants on the trip. The climb was hard but we were encouraged and supported throughout by the guides. The base accommodation of Yeti Lodge in Chamonix was excellent. This is a difficult trip with 2 climbs on glaciers at altitude. The nature of the trip makes it very susceptible to weather conditions and the guides were continually checking the latest reports to ensure it was safe to climb and to adjust the itinerary to provide the best chances of safely summiting both mountains. Nobody should be in any doubt that this can be a dangerous trip and the use of experienced, professional guides is essential. Safety has to be paramount and the desire to summit at all costs can not be allowed to prevail ahead of safety. This was brought home with the death of 2 climbers elsewhere on Mont Blanc the day we successfully summited and a further 2 climber deaths just 2 days later. Anybody wishing to embark on a trip like this should carefully check that the guides employed by the travel company are suitably qualified and experienced ahead of all else.

Rating for tour operator:

KE Adventure were able to answer all questions prior to the trip and were happy to do so. The cost of the trip was comparable to other companies with all inclusions and exclusions clearly explained in advance. The trip brochure was very detailed, explaining all the necessary requirements and providing detailed information on the format of the trip while making it clear that all aspects were weather dependent.

Excellent week in France / Swiss Alps, climbing high peaks - Jegihorn, Tete Blanche and Weissmies

The original plan was to climb Mont Blanc after 3 days of acclimatization. The weather turned really bad. The trip planners did not give on the trip but altered the itinerary which turned out to be an excellent trip. The alternate plans were made to give similar experience to the intended trip.
