Hands on Indochina

Hands on Indochina Overview

This 15 night group tour is filled with unforgettable hands-on experiences taking you right to the heart of Vietnam and Cambodia. From rice farming to traditional dance, and local fishing to lantern making, this trip is full of opportunities to meet the locals and learn about traditional customs, craft industries and the creative arts.

This all-encompassing tour starts in Siem Reap, amongst the ancient temples of Angkor. Here you’ll learn how to carve wood and stone with a local artisan and venture out into the Cambodian countryside to try your hand at traditional farming and fishing methods. From here, it’s on to the lively capital of Phnom Penh, where you’ll watch an incredible performance of the Phare Circus and learn traditional dance and music. Next, you’ll cross the border to Vietnam and encounter the hustle and bustle of Ho Chi Minh City. After taking in the major sites of the city, you’ll leave the modern metropolis behind and travel first to the beautiful port town of Hoi An, characterised by quaint streets and shop houses, and then onto picturesque Ky Son. Over the next few days, you’ll explore the Vietnamese countryside and try lots of new things; visiting an organic farming project, taking part in a lantern-making workshop, cycling, trying your hand at Vietnamese cooking and sharing lunch with the locals. From here, you’ll journey north to Hanoi, where you’ll have a chance to sample some of Asia’s most renowned food and learn more about traditional Vietnamese theatre, before finishing your trip with an overnight cruise around magnificent Halong Bay; a peaceful and serene way to end your action-packed Indochina adventure.
