Myanmar surpassed all our expectations

All the guides and drivers were brilliant. We really felt that they became friends in the short time that we were with them, and all the guides were so knowledgeable and easy to be with. They were always able to adapt when necessary to accommodate our wishes. We were blown away by Inle Lake. Such an extraordinary place to explore and experience. They were always able to adapt when necessary to accommodate our wishes. We were blown away by Inle Lake. Such an extraordinary place to explore and experience. Lunch at Grandma's kitchen was one of many highlights! A balloon trip over Bagan is a must... truly magical and brilliantly organised. We loved all the boat trips whether in Hsipaw, cruising along the Irrawaddy, or dashing around Inle Lake. The picnics en-route (or in the middle of nowhere in Bagan) were some of the best food of the holiday. The train over the Gokteik Viaduct is a real experience, and not to be missed. It made a great change from long car journeys. The downside of the holiday were the 50 miles of roadworks between Mandalay and Hsipaw - it made the travelling quite stressful and tiring and to be avoided if at all possible by taking the train or even flying to the North of the Shan State while the work is going on. Finally - our final 6 days in the Myiek archipelago were magical. Totally unspoilt and undeveloped (however - there are 11 resorts on different islands that have been given planning permission). Visiting the fishing villages and experiencing their way of life was a real eye-opener.

This is the sixth time we have booked a holiday through Fleewinter and the advice and help they give throughout the planning process is always invaluable and makes the booking process highly enjoyable. Once again Fleewinter together with Khiri Travel ensured that everything happened without a hitch.

A fantastic adventure, unrivalled in its excitement and luxury

Undoubtedly the trip of a lifetime. Myanmar was a heady mix of culture, history and other worldliness (is that even a word, if it isn't it needs to be to describe this holiday)
