This itinerary gives you the best of both worlds, including a stay in Cape Town followed by the Cape Winelands before heading off to the Okavango Delta and staying in a water-based camp.
Your city & swamp holiday starts in Cape Town, where you will spend 4 nights staying in a boutique hotel in the city centre. Apart from an abundance of hospitality, Cape Town city has a lot to offer – from loads of popular local restaurants and shops in the city centre to interesting museums and art galleries dotted around the city. A visit to Cape Town is not complete without a scenic drive along the coastline towards Simon’s Town, where you can swim with the local penguins. Another favourite is a sunset trip in the cable car up Table Mountain, where you’ll be treated to spectacular views of the city.
The next leg of your city & swamp holiday takes you to the much sought after (and not without good reason!) Cape Winelands. The next 2 nights of your trip will be spent in the town of Stellenbosch, known for its buzzing atmosphere and beautiful surrounding wine farms. Spend your days exploring the wine farms and your evenings indulging in the culinary excellence and warm hospitality in the town centre.
From the winelands you will head off to Botswana, where the next 3 days will be spent exploring the Okavango Delta. The Delta is one of the seven natural wonders of Africa and receives approximately 11 cubic kilometres of water per year from the annual floods. During the dry winter months, the delta is at its fullest and attracts a large variety of wildlife. In fact, it is known to be one of the areas with the highest concentrations of wildlife during this time! The high concentration of permanent and seasonal wildlife around the Delta include elephant, buffalo, hippo, rhino and a wide variety of buck, as well as predators including lion, cheetah, leopard and the Nile crocodile and a large variety of birdlife. Your time will be spent on several day and night game drives, as well as guided nature walks and water excursions (if water levels permit).
