Canoeing - River Spey Descent by osprey, 20 Aug 2014
Holiday Rating:

Spey Descent open canoeing

We certainly experienced a diverse range of river conditions. In fact the river rose so high we literally had to abandon ship. However the guides ensured we continued paddling and we circumnavigated Loch Insch instead, seeing osprey fishing and many goldeneye ducks.

The Great Glen Canoe Trail by Rune, 18 Aug 2014
Holiday Rating:

Watching the beautiful world of Scotland float by

We were canoeing the great glen canal and passed through several lochs along the way, one of them being Loch Ness. Imagine Loch Ness on a misty morning and imagine the beautiful landscape of Scotland floating by as you paddle along in your canoe together with your team mates. There is nothing like it! It's a trip that brings you back to what really matters; living in the moment.

Walking - The Wilds of Assynt by Lorraine, 13 Aug 2014
Holiday Rating:

The best hiking experience

We hiked some rugged and beautiful mountains in the Nortwestern part of the Highlands. The name of the tour, The Wilds of Assynt, fits the description of what we did. We hiked, went on a natural history boat ride, learned about flora and fauna, geology, history in the surroundings we were in. The group was small enough for all of us to get to know each other and enjoy each other's company. The tour was an amazing and memorable experience.

This was a great hiking trip with a wonderful and experienced organization, Wilderness Scotland. They definitely deserve a five star rating, at least! They provided us with all the information we needed to prepare for the trip, the tour was well organized and we had an experienced, knowledgable and personable guide. I hope to return to Scotland and, definitely, I would go on another tour with Wilderness Scotland.

This was a very well-organized, thoroughly enjoyable vacation of hiking and seeing the sights of the western highlands and the islands. We would recommend it highly for anyone wanting to experience the western part of Scotland. However, be forewarned. Hiking conditions are difficult ...

The guide was excellent, informative and knowledgeable; the "basecamp" outstanding - great hospitality and excellent food; and the overall experience satisfying. We would recommend it highly for anyone wanting to experience the western part of Scotland. However, be forewarned. Hiking conditions are difficult - trails few and not well-maintained, very boggy and muddy, and weather highly variable. In spite of that, we loved the experience. It is a beautiful area of the world!

Very well-organized trip.

Wilderness Scotland by Mr M S 14, 11 Aug 2014
Holiday Rating:

Beautiful scenery and quiet roads for cycling

I cycle a bit around Berkshire rarely doing more than 30 miles so the Hebrides was a little challenging with most days averaging 40 miles and with a few hills. But the countryside was beautiful, the roads very quiet and our guides couldn't have been more helpful. Most of the accommodation was very good with excellent cooked breakfasts and some memorable evening meals. I would recommend this trip to anyone wanting to cycle somewhere different.

Walking - The Orkney Isles by Ms J C 14, 10 Aug 2014
Holiday Rating:

The Orkneys are not for the birds! They are for anyone wishing to experience the outdoors.

This holiday was more than anyone could want. Walking along sea cliffs and fields was an experience in fully embracing the outdoors. Add to that great food and fascinating historical sites made this the complete package.

Rating for tour operator:

Wilderness Scotland is excellent. All the details of travel and special requests were handled with efficiency. In addition we were treated to local information and experiences that only they could provide...Dinner at a restaurant with 5 tables requiring advanced reservations, live music at a local cafe...The knowledge of the guide was amazing.
