Snorkelling heaven!

It is quite a journey to get there but once we boarded the boat we had a wonderful experience. The snorkelling was beyond our expectations with the variety of marine life and corals, and we saw so much in the three hours a day we snorkelled nearly every day. On top of that, sighting many types of dolphins and whales, spotting sea birds and birds of paradise, there was rarely a full moment. The crew of The Mermaid warrant particular mention - their helpfulness in every area of the holiday made everything run so smoothly and enjoyably.

We have been on a number of holidays with Naturetrek and this was equally well-planned, with lots of helpful information provided beforehand.

Whales, whales and more whales

A stunning boat trip to the marine reserve in the sea of Cortez. Everyday had more exciting sights and experiences, from swimming with whale sharks and sea lions, to watching shearwaters and storm petrels skim the waves. One of the highlights was stroking a grey whale that came up to our small boat, another was moving through a super pod of more than a thousand dolphins all leaping and playing.

Baja Calafornia and the Sea of Cortez

This was an amazing trip we saw over a dozen blue whales. Touched and interacted with the grey whale mums and calves in San Ignation bay which was both emotional and aawsome. We were lucky enough to see two superpods of common long-beaked dolphin. we had a stunning couple of hours in the sea of Cortez watching the accorbatics of several humpback whales. The food on searcher was plentiful and tasty and the crew were friendly and helpful.

Great leaders, wonderful weather and good birding.

We enjoyed a sunny, warm week on Cyprus, well organised and using two hotels in different locations for best access to different flower and birding locations. All at an easy pace and with friendly people. Food was fine, countryside was very pleasant and some spectacular coastal scenery. Birds were not seen in great numbers, but the actual species were varied and there were some good 'ticks', quickly identified for us by our bird expert leader...

Birds were not seen in great numbers, but the actual species were varied and there were some good 'ticks', quickly identified for us by our bird expert leader.. Our plant expert was very diligent in spotting flowers, especially orchids, and ensuring that we didn't miss them. All in all, a very nice and problem-free trip. I have used Naturetrek several times before, and will definitely continue to book my birding holidays with them.

Rating for tour operator:

Naturetrek staff are very easy to communicate with. They are quick to respond, and will always follow up any queries or potential problems. I will continue to use them for my holidays.

Wonderful time in The Gambia

This was a week long half board nature(birding) trip in The Gambia. We departed from Gatwick airport and flew into Banjul, and then travelled by road to the Forest lodges. The local team were very welcoming and professional and very knowledgeable. The accommodation was very good, as were the meals. Our Tour Lead was courteous, very supportive and most importantly, knew the itinerary and explained about each day's plans.

Tanzania Great Migration safari

We took a Naturetrek safari to Tanzania to see the Wildebeest migration and calving on the plains in S Serengeti and also a visit to the Ngorongoro Crater followed by an extension to Arusha & Tarangire NPs. We also had a visit to the Lake Manyara NP. The lodges and the local guides from Ranger Safaris were excellent and our group of 11 people had a wonderful time.

Naturetrek is a name we can trust: they do what they say they will. They have provided us with at least 10 different wildlife and wildlife/culture tours to different parts of the world and on each occasion we have felt well looked after. Naturetrek provides excellent pre-departure information, the opportunity to read past reports of the tours they offer and are always at the end of a phone to answer any queries.
