Walking - The Wilds of Assynt by D, 28 Aug 2018
Holiday Rating:

Fantastic way to explore the wilds of Assynt.

A great week of walking in the northwest of Scotland, scaling the heights of Suilven, Stac Pollaidh, Cul Mor, and experiencing the beautiful beaches, waterfalls and the Summer Isles.

The Wilds of Assynt. WOW! Just go. If you have even the tiniest feeling it might be something for you. Let me tell you, it is! It’s beyond anything my words can describe to you. This was my first hiking trip and my first visit to Scotland and it has kindled a great love for both the hiking and the country. Most likely thanks to the lovely group I was part of and our very capable guide. Wilderness Scotland knows what they are doing, everything from booking accommodation, finding nice places to eat and most importantly choosing which trails to walk. Nothing seems coincidental. Every day is something new, both to see and to feel under the soles of your feet. And don’t worry if it rains a little. The gray sky only enhances the beautiful colours of the scottish flora around you and the flow of water makes the landscape come alive both visibly and audibly. There is so much to see, so don’t let the rain stop you! This was only my first adventure with Wilderness Scotland and I am definitely coming back.

West Highland Way with Wilderness Scotland 13 August - 20 August 2018

Our holiday was outstanding in every way: preparation by Wilderness Scotland, our guide, our accommodations along the way, and the most welcome food and drink. The experience far exceeded our already high expectations.

Our Tailor Made Holidays by Kate, 22 Aug 2018

Beautiful, stimulating & renewing trip!

We fell in love with rural Scotland -- the expansive vistas, the remarkable light as the sun broke through the faint mist, the craggy, rough mountains, and the peaceful pastures full of sleep. We loved the walks that Wilderness Scotland selected for our custom trip. Wilderness Scotland seems to be an extremely well-run organization, with knowledgeable and extremely reliable staff. All the details worked, and Rachael, our agent, point stayed in touch with us throughout our trip, which allowed her to optimize our time.

Unique experience at Doune Knoydart

One week in August at Doune Knoydart, which is one of the most spectacular locations I've ever experienced. The opportunities we had to see wildlife in a natural habitat was unprecedented. Along with the beautiful walks and exquisite food, we saw a pod of about 100 dolphins alongside our boat, otters and seals, birds, a wild mountain goat, and to top it all we had stags come down to graze right outside the door of our lodge in the evening ...

Along with the beautiful walks and exquisite food, we saw a pod of about 100 dolphins alongside our boat, otters and seals, birds, a wild mountain goat, and to top it all we had stags come down to graze right outside the door of our lodge in the evening and morning. They were quite shy but on the last night they just didn't seem bothered and just wanted to keep eating. I've never been in a situation where I've seen so much wildlife up close in such a stunning location. Doune exceeded my expectations with the quality of the food and we were treated like kings with local, freshly produced, organic, mouthwatering food. The walks were challenging but the whole group enjoyed them and although the weather (wind and rain) made them tough, we got through them.

Wilderness Scotland makes everything run like clockwork and always replied to my email queries efficiently and promptly.

Walking - Outer Hebrides & Skye by Rox, 20 Aug 2018
Holiday Rating:

It was the best of times.

Our holiday was one of the best we have had. The only glitch was accomodatiion as we were asked to share a suite with a single female and had not been previously consulted. When we complained, the company was able to change it for two of the four nights. We. Had paid a good sum of money for this trip and may not have booked with them had we known this . However they did their best to fix the problem.

Don was an amazing guide. He had wonderful information, patience and the ability to read the group dynamics. We would take another tour with him in a heartbeat.
