Louisiana - creole cooking, plantation houses ,swamps and Jazz.

A packed two weeks of exploring the history of this most un conventional American state. Plantation houses, the history and architecture of the area, the economy of the cotton and sugar industry - and slavery - all encompassed by jazz and southern hospitality. The itinerary, the manager and the intellectual input by a Professor of American Professor of Architectural history made this exploration of the Mississippi and the Cane River area a busy but stimulating challenge. Our attendance at the annual Jazz Festival in New Orleans melted our minds and soothed our overworked psyche.......... Some swamps to explore.... no floods, no tornadoes ,no mosquitoes, but much Creole culture to appreciate including a feast of food.

A privileged journey through Louisiana, USA

Beautifully organised, the outstanding feature of this holiday was the quality of the lecturer. Louis Nelson is a Professor of Architecture at the University of Virginia, but his expertise spreads far wider than how to read houses. We were privileged. and then there was the choice of accommodation: separate B & B houses in historic and little visited Natchitoches was inspired. The journey was a revelation that I long to repeat.

Martin Randall Travel do not leave any detail unchallenged. From the moment one books a holiday with them to the moment one returns, all is calm and friendly. and they don't "mollycoddle" us. They treat us as intelligent adults and this is so valuable.
