Members Project PROTECT Forum

(This is an AITO Member only activity)

Programme of the first AITO PROTECT Networking Forum

3rd July 2018, 14:30 – 16:30 Royal Overseas League, Hall of India/Pakistan, London

Aim of event:

To bring AITO PROTECT trainees and other AITO members together to discuss their progress, ideas and plans concerning PROTECT. Activities aim to empower trainees to take next steps, provide reassurance about progress and plans, and foster team-building and belonging particularly within PROTECT but also as sustainable tourism leaders and innovators within AITO as an organisation. The event will be led by Xavier Font together with members of the Sustainable Tourism Committee, all of who will be able to provide advice and impetus throughout the afternoon.

Target groups:

This event is targeted at current PROTECT trainees from all levels and AITO members who are interested in the project and want to find out more.

14:30 – 14:40

Welcome and introduction to the Networking Forum

14:40 – 15:00

Ice breaker: First impressions

Participants sit opposite other and have one minute to introduce themselves, where they are in the PROTECT scheme, the project they are working on and what they hope to achieve from the event. When a bell rings they move along one seat and swap stories with the next person.

15:00 – 15:25

Presentations: Sharing current pledge activities

3 – 4 participants tell others about the pledges they are implementing this year to provide ideas and impetus to others. Other participants can ask questions during the session.

15:25 – 15:55

Group work: Troubleshooting current issues

In groups participants will share any issues they may be having with their current PROTECT activity or with the training in general. Together they will troubleshoot to come up with ideas to help with the relevant issue. At the end of the activity the problems and the best solutions will be shared on a pin board.

15:55– 16:10

Individual activity: Next steps 2018

Participants will work out and record their next steps for PROTECT and commit themselves to a schedule for completing those steps. Xavier Font and members of the Sustainable Tourism Committee will be available to help participants make a plan.

16:10 – 16:25

Final discussion: Improving PROTECT

Participants have the opportunity to discuss and suggest how the AITO PROTECT scheme could be improved in the future.

16:25 – 16:30

Closing remarks

16:30 – 17:30

Networking drinks - an opportunity to talk to trainees with similar projects or ideas and to exchange more ideas about activities.
