I had never thought of visiting Japan until Mountain Kingdoms sent out a newsletter. What a varied and interesting trip it turned out to be. It gave us a chance to experience so much - Tokyo and Nara, the trekking on the Nakasendo and Yamanobe Trails, sleeping and eating in traditional ryokan and minshuku, visiting beautiful temples and historic sites, travelling on the amazing rail system, and finally ending the trip in historic Kyoto. I couldn't have had a better introduction to the country. The group was small and we had fun together. And the weather was perfect.
Rating for tour operator:
I had used Mountain Kingdoms for a previous 11 trips, mostly to the Himalayan region. Their trips had always been well organized, with a variety of activities and experiences. I was pleased to find it was extending its geographic area now to Japan, and signed up for its 'gentle trekking Nakasendo Trail, Japan'. It was a good choice, and an excellent trip, with a small group (something I have always appreciated with Mountain Kingdoms) - and would highly recommend both the company and its trips.;
