Viareggio Carnival

Viareggio Carnival Overview

Experience the Viareggio Carnival on Italy’s northern Tuscan coast, with giant floats, masks, and music. Explore Pisa, Lucca, and Florence with your friendly solo-travelling group, sharing the excitement, culture, and vibrant festivities together. A truly unforgettable winter carnival adventure.

Situated on the northern coast of Tuscany, Viareggio is known as the Pearl of the Tyrrhenian Sea. With its long sandy beaches, pine-woods and beautiful promenade with Art Deco architecture, Viareggio makes a perfect stage for its Carnival held here since 1873. From your grandstand seating you will witness parades consisting of giant floats, weighing up to 40 tonnes, as high as 27 metres and carrying up to 250 dancers! Also, folk bands and performers with original masks, offer excitement, culture and tradition. Outside of Viareggio we include a guided tour of Pisa; a day exploring the ancient walled city of Lucca, one of the most loved cities of Tuscany; and a day spent in Florence, widely celebrated as the most beautiful city in Italy. Enjoy the party atmosphere with your fellow companions on this carnival holiday.
