Sicily Overview

Explore Sicily with fellow solo travellers. From Palermo’s cosmopolitan charm to Agrigento’s Valley of the Temples, Piazza Armerina’s mosaics, Giardini Naxos, Taormina and Mount Etna, enjoy historic cities, archaeological treasures, beaches, and vibrant local culture in the company of your friendly travel group.

Sicily’s position in the Mediterranean, just off the toe of Italy’s ‘boot’, gives the island a varied landscape with tropical greens, dry browns and volcanic rock. The eastern part of the island is dominated by Mount Etna, the largest active volcano in Europe. Sicily has been home to many great Mediterranean civilisations, reflected in its diverse architecture with Greek temples, Norman churches and Baroque palazzi, yet its towns and cities are extraordinarily cosmopolitan. This holiday encompasses four main centres. Palermo, the capital of the island, is situated in the north where you will stay in Mondello, Palermo’s beach resort. Agrigento, on Sicily’s south-west shore, is known for the Valley of the Temples, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The region around Piazza Armerina is known for its mosaics, while Giardini Naxos, located on the east coast, provides a great location for visiting Taormina, Syracuse and the Etna area. With Sicily’s combination of historic cities, archaeological sites, food and laid-back beach resorts, the holiday gives a real sense of the diverse, friendly culture the island has to offer and includes all those extra touches our guests have come to expect.
