Art & Music in Milan & Cremona

It was an extremely well conceived exploration of the various facets of culture in Milan followed by a quite amazing musical experience in Cremona. It included a number of unusual galleries and private collections.

The UK office and tour organiser in Italy were most competent. The tour leader was so very well versed in all aspects of the visit.

Ciceroni Travel to Milan

This was a comprehensive week's tour of the sights, art galleries and churches of Milan, Cremona and Crema with visits to violin maker's and organ builder's workshops, plus private homes and collections, all enlivened by expert commentaries by Ciceroni Travel's founder, the art historian Tom Duncan. Choice accommodation and excellent meals. We have joined ten or so Ciceroni tours before and remain addicted.

A Time of Music and Beauty

A real experience to be able to take part in the Stradivari Festival with chamber music concerts; visits to the Stradivari Museum and to watch a violin being made as well as a visit to an organ builder followed by lunch in his family trattoria; Cathdrals and churches and drives through beautiful countryside. An Art Gallery which was obviouslythe pride of Cremona but with no exceptional pictures. 2 excellent local guides and lunch in a Palais which except for 3 paintings could have been left out. Mysister and I were bothon sticks but managed most things with the Tour Leader being so helpful in getting us taxies. The meals whichwere part of the proramme were good in well chosen restaurants.

Rating for tour operator:

He was really good and very helpful and had arranged a good programme. He had a huge knowledge of local history as well as Italian language. Very impressive.

An interesting and varied cultural tour in and around Cremona

We spent 5 days (almost)with our Ciceroni guide James Hill, helped by generally competent local guides, viewing sites of architectural and general historic interest in and around Cremona, going as far away as Bergamo. Apart from a rather disastrous (wordy and largely inaudible) host in the Palazzo Moroni the Bergamo trip was particularly enjoyable. The opportunity to visit the Museo del Violino during the Stradivari Festival and attend three concerts in the magnificent modern auditorium was a strong feature of this holiday. The hotel Impero was adequate and James Hill did an excellent job.

Rating for tour operator:

Ciceroni have a great reputation for their tour managers' knowledge of the history of art, architecture and politics. Their choice of hotels and restaurants is good and their customer care is outstanding.

it certainly struck a chord with me

A well organised tour with like minded people. a small group which is much preferable when looking at churches, buildings etc. The highlight was the visit to the Violin Museum in Cremona and the various performances we were privileged to listen to on the beautiful instruments of Stradivarius,Amati etc.
