Gardens of the Côte d'Azur

Gardens of the Côte d'Azur Overview

Explore the Côte d’Azur from Menton, discovering elegant villas, hilltop towns and fragrant gardens across the Riviera. Visit Monaco, Eze and Grasse, and even create your own perfume. With relaxed solo group travel and a welcoming waterfront base, this sunshine escape blends scenery, culture and botanical beauty.

The French Riviera, thanks to its pleasant climate and gorgeous scenery, has always held a certain mystique for us Brits. It was wealthy English aristocrats and industrialists who started the fashion for overwintering in the now-famous towns of Cannes, Nice, Monaco and Menton in the early 19th century. The specific climate of the region had already long-established the towns of Eze and Grasse as centres of the perfume industry, but it was the English who peppered the countryside with landscaped gardens. On this holiday you and your fellow solo travellers, will be based in the charming town of Menton. Once part of the Principality of Monaco this sun-kissed town, just a stone’s throw from the Italian border, is famous for its gardens and its lemon festival. You will visit hilltop towns, sumptuous villas, at least five charming gardens, each with their own character, and of course, Monaco, the playground of the rich and famous. All this whilst staying at a waterfront hotel in Menton, a town that oozes charm and conviviality. Along with the myriad flowers that are in bloom at the various gardens, you will have the chance to create your own perfume at a famous perfumery. We can certainly guarantee that this is our most fragrant holiday on offer!
