Rainforest and Galapagos
Rainforest and Galapagos OverviewNature and wildlife lovers will be in seventh heaven on this holiday. From the rivers and jungle of the Amazon to the islands and beaches of the Galapagos, you’ll be immersed in the sights and sounds of the natural world.
Starting in Quito, you’ll have a guided tour of the old and new cities plus time to explore for yourself. Next you venture into the Amazon for a 4 day stay at one of our favourite lodges, Napo Wildlife Centre. Even the journey is an adventure. You fly to Coca and take a 2 hour trip by motorised canoe followed another 2 hours in a dugout canoe. Don’t worry, someone else does the paddling, leaving you free to watch out for squirrel monkeys, giant otters and anaconda. On reaching the lodge you can lie back in the hammock on the terrace, listening to the sounds of the forest around you. Over the next few days you’ll be exploring by canoe, hiking along forest trails and climbing the 120-foor canopy tower for panoramic views. You’ll also be able to visit local communities. All activities are led by an experienced naturalist guide, who’ll bring your whole experience to life.
The next phase of your holiday is the 8-day Galapagos cruise. Your home is a comfortable motor yacht with en-suite cabins, polished teak interiors and spacious decks. You’ll be visiting different islands each day with your knowledgeable guide, with time for walking, swimming and snorkelling as well as watching wildlife. The animals and birds of the Galapagos do not fear humans, so you can get really close to them. Much of the wildlife is unique to the islands, so this is a wonderful opportunity to see creatures you’ll not encounter anywhere else.
