The Classic Canadian West 2 week holiday

Spaces available on this special 16 July 2017 departure
Travelling across western Canada, from Calgary to Vancouver, this 2-week holiday takes us on an adventure of a lifetime to the most famous and fabulous locations in the Canadian Rockies. We ensure that as much time as possible is spent out of the vehicle and we have many splendid day walks and several shorter walks during the itinerary. The scale of this part of the world is truly amazing, and can only really be appreciated first hand. Here you can travel for several hours and only see wilderness with countless 2000m snow-capped mountains surrounded by endless forest. We start our adventure with 3 nights at the village of Lake Louise. The actual lake, a little further up the valley is an iridescent turquoise, and the source of a million photos of this area. We have 3 days walking here taking us over a 2600m pass and along the ‘Iceline trail’ in Yoho National Park, at the edge of the glaciers. Heading north-west towards Jasper along the Icefields Parkway where we visit Maligne Lake and enjoy a beautiful walk in the Bald Hills for some panoramic views across the amazing Columbia Icefield. It is likely that we will come across evidence of the bears in the area, and we will probably see one of the huge moose or caribou which roam these lands. Crossing into British Columbia, we walk up to flower-strewn Trophy Mountain Meadows in Wells Grey Provincial Park, and have a boat safari along the Grizzly Bear Valley with a likelihood of seeing these bears. We have some time in the laid-back winter Olympic village of Whistler and a day walking in the Garbaldi Park before taking the ferry across to Vancouver Island to complete this magical holiday with an excellent coastal hike on the Juan de Fuca Trail. Our holiday ends in the buzzing, funky, metropolitan city of Vancouver. With all of the long drives mixed up with walks and boat rides, this is one of KE’s favourite holidays in Canada.
