The Mountain Company is an award-winning team of holiday experts in the Himalayas and Karakoram. We organise treks, expeditions, and tours in Nepal, Bhutan, Pakistan, and India (Ladakh and Sikkim). Our passion is for exploring very remote regions including sections of The Great Himalaya Trail.

Winners of AITO's Tour Operator of the Year in both 2018 (Gold) and 2015 (Bronze). We are members of AITO, ABTOT and hold an ATOL license.

We are travel specialists to only a small number of countries. We use our first-hand knowledge of the Himalayan region to help plan safe and enjoyable experiences. We have offices both in the UK and in Nepal so during peak season we offer unique on-the-ground support from Kathmandu.

Running safe trips is of paramount importance to us. We are British Standard 8848 compliant. We have invested in high-quality equipment to support our groups in the field. We send a satellite phone on all of our trekking holidays in Nepal, Pakistan, and Bhutan.

We are committed to responsible and sustainable tourism. In April 2021, we signed up to Tourism Declares a Climate Emergency. During the Covid pandemic in 2020/21, we sent £30k of donations to our trek crews in Nepal, Bhutan, and Pakistan. In 2015, we financially supported our trek crews in the aftermath of the Nepal earthquake.

Founded in 2004 and is still managed today by Roland Hunter FRGS. Roland has led groups on most of our trips throughout the Himalayas and the Karakoram. He has also summited Mount Everest (8,848m) and Mount Makalu (8,463m).
